What Lonely Planet, latest edition, (2011) says about us :
**************************************
This brand-new 21-room inn facing the Parque de los Niños is less a hostel than a full-blown hotel equipped with a smattering of dormitory rooms. An interior atrium is draped in plants and a 4th floor bean bag lounge offers a prime opportunity to sip beers while watching the planes take off at the international airport in the distance.

Dormitories are wonderfully uncluttered ( only four people to a room ) and each come with their own bathroom , while the private rooms are graceful, decorated in serene earth tones and equipped with cable TV and double-pane windows.

More expensive junior suites have plasma TV and comfy king-sized bed.
Plus there is wi-fi all over the hotel .

We are the author's choice as the best budget option in Alajuela for plenty of reasons, but just to put it in a few words : We know what you want and that is : good , cheap and great money value and that is what we have waiting for you so book now !!

Important note: We have to check credit card info first in order to guarantee booking. If there is any issue we will contact you in order to get right credit card details View House Rules

I just needed to stay the night to catch a flight out the next day. The hostel is conveniently located close to the airport. There is the central market just blocks away for food too.

Quick stay for the night between flights out of SJO. Staff was very helpful and nice. Super easy for what I needed it for. Provided a shuttle back to the airport. Super close to the airport. Staff gave me a good recommendation for breakfast near the hostel.

I loved La Choza Inn! Rommel was fantastic and very useful in planning both trips and even things such as arranging shuttles. I stayed at a private room and it was more then I could ask for. The location is good as well and security was also well. Breakfast and the people I met were also good. Only piece of advice is to keep your clothes clean or your room may smell. (La fortuna does rain a lot so your clothes will be wet). Definitely worth the stay!

Great value for money ! We stayed there twice. Nice staff and the hostel proposes free shuttle to the airport ! Not far from our bus stop and next to a park, which is nice. The restaurant is cheap and very good. Too bad there is no locker in the room and no kitchen with table,... There is a balcony where you can eat though. A bit freezing in the room => But the beds are really comfortable ! :) We recommend ! :)

    Very Good

This hostel was a nice enough stay for one night. Close to the airport and free shuttle service was a big plus. Just don't forget to reserve one ahead of time or you'll end up paying for an overpriced taxi like I did. Showers were definitely not hot, though. Not a dealbreaker, just not what they advertise.

The bed was the worst I've ever slept on. Could see the metal coils from the sheets. Put towels and blanket down but definitely not recommended if you have back issues. Whatever, it's cheap! I'm quite sure they downgraded the room I booked on the website (from 'Superior Double Bed Private Ensuite') to their standard 'Double Bed Private Ensuite' room. The photos of the superior room look better. Website says 'On-side parking' but nope. Bar was great. Absolutely amaaaazing view of San Jose.

Good location if you’re transitioning to/from the airport, and good mattress, but that’s about it for me.. Room was not well aired so it smelled a bit (AC was not working), bathroom was not clean. A lotttt of noise coming from the street during the night. Pickup only works during the day so I had to take a taxi when I arrived at 10pm. Overall not incredible but works for the night.

Someone came into my room while I was sleeping. They gave me my room but apparently they didn’t mark it properly and gave someone else my room too.

Dungeon-esque accommodations. Does not accept card for payment. Close to airport, but not in a great neighborhood. Would gladly spend more money for a nicer hotel the next time I need a place to crash for a few hours.
