This hostel offers the best in both location and comfort. It's right in the heart of the action, close to the old town district, Latin Quarter, Chinatown and other tourist attractions. There's also the coolest restaurants and bars all just a stone's throw away. Breakfast is included in the price of your stay, as is the WiFi and laundry service. Even local phone calls won't cost you any extra. The kitchen is huge with three refrigerators, so you won't struggle with storage space. Known for accommodating long term guests, they are big on creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Property Description

Choose the Alexandrie experience. For 20 years, we've been building and constantly improving this institution of a hostel in order to meet all the needs a backpacker could have. Without any big publicity, people stay with us because they are looking for an authentic hostel experience.

Our guests are always gathering in our lively common room, which is a big industrial loft decked out with recycled furniture, with a homy, comfortable vibe. At our hostel, whether people are hanging out, playing board games, doing their laundry, or cooking, everyone ends up knowing each other. We often have communal dinners, either as hostel activities or as spontaneous initiatives from our guests, and people regularly have beers all together before heading out to the bars. Montreal has a fantastic night life.

If, like us, you think a Montreal hostel should offer a vibrant and surprising style, with a comfortable atmosphere and good prices, we know you’ll have a great time at Alexandrie!

Give us a try. If you don't like it we will give you back your money.

Value for your money: very good.

Security: dorm lock with magnetic key and lockers in each room.

Location: Easy, 5 streets from bus station also a stop for airport shuttle. Free parking on street possible.

Activities everyday.

Facility: large kitchen with 5 fridges, roof terrace and a relax lounge in basement open 24 hours .

Save money - cook your own meal and buy your own beer . There are convenience stores near the hostel.

We're very proud of our new ensuite dorms (with bathroom); These rooms have air conditioning and are the nicest in the building. According to our user-pay principal, if you wish more services choose the most expensive dorm.

We also offer no-frills dorm with a shared bathroom (gym style) for cheap cheap price. Only for laid-back people on lower budget.

Our private double room is much like sharing an apartment; this room shares a living room, kitchen and bathroom with just one other room.

Our rooms are lit by natural light! You are on holiday. You don't want to stay in a basement...

Everything is around us: the arts and entertainment district, the financial district, Old Montreal, the Latin quarter, McGill campus, and Chinatown. The hip restaurants, bars and shops are within walking distance. We're also near the bus station and metro... save on bus passes and taxis! Several grocery stores/markets are in our area as well.

The staff here know the city very well and will ensure that you get the most out of Montreal without breaking the bank while seeing things that might not be in any guide books!

Enjoyed my stay here. Really appreciated the stronger than average bunk bed construction which means they creak way less. Plus the beds all have reading lights, a small shelf, and power bars to charge your stuff.

Our stay at Alexandrie-Montreal was awesome! Luc was so welcoming and took the time to orient us on a map of the city showing us all the different districts and giving us suggestions of where to go that match our personal interests! Plus the private room we had was surprisingly in the mini-apartment in the hostel that has 2 private rooms with double bed, shared bathroom, shared common area and a full kitchen with washer and dryer, and we had it all to ourselves! We will be returning 100%. :)

Homey atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff, and ample facilities made my stay very enjoyable. What it lacks in polish (you may find the building itself rustic) it more than makes up for with the human touch. The best cheap hostel I've stayed at!

I highly reccomend to stay at this place! It attracts amazing people so you'll most likely meet great people like I did, including the staff! The indoor environment is marvellous and it's perfect for lounging when you feel like it or being lively and fun! The best hostel I have stayed in and its amongst the fun! The staff are very active with the guests and make an effort for the guests to have fun so it's perfect for solo travelers looking to make some good friends to hang out!

This was my first hostel experience and I was EXTREMELY happy with my stay at Alexandrie! I'm a transgender woman and stayed in the female only dorm and the other ladies in the dorm were wonderful! The staff were super friendly and helpful! Alex brought me to the dorm and I had a wonderful chat with him! I met a few amazing people from all corners of the world and different walks of life here and I will 100% stay here again! The location is perfect and super close to the village! A+💖

Great time staying at Alexandrei-Montreal, its in a great location being close to Mile End where you have a great selection of eateries (must go to both bagel places), downtown where there are plenty of local bars, and Mount Royale which is a must-do! The staff were very friendly and make great suggestions of what to do/where to go, and the atmosphere was great with social events organised throughout the week!

Great location and friendly staff. Decent breakfast and lots happening in the hood. The common area is pretty chill and nice to hangout. We stayed in one of the dormitory of 4 in the back. It was pretty simple. But my main concern was about the bathroom. I was surprised to see a shared bathtub for a number of dorms. 1) it’s hard to clean which was the case for most of the time we showered 2) why waist the whole bathroom with one giant bathtub? Can’t we have couple of standing shower instead?
