Property Description

***IMPORTANT*** This is not a 24h hostel. Check-in is until 11pm. We respect everyone´s rest time. If you plan to arrive to Cuenca late at night please consider staying somewhere else. From 7am you may leave your bags at the hostel until check-in time.

Anicha Hostel is a colonial house that has been restored. We have wooden floors, mosaics, windows, and balconies from the colonial era. It tells the history of the former headquarters of the Ministry of Education. We started this project with the idea of having a space where the culture is reinforced. For this reason our walls are full of art, with an atmosphere of different music expressions with a combination of good energy of the travellers who contributed to the place.

A vegan or vegetarian breakfast can be enjoyed at the property, options are oatmeal with fruits or bread with omelette.
**Important note: the kitchen at Anicha is vegetarian, please we ask that you don't cook or store meat in the hostel.**

Located in Cuenca, the principal park Abdon Calderon is 350 m from the accommodation, Art Modern Museum, the San Sebastian park and the 3 November traditional market is a 4-minute walk from the property. (300 mts)

The rooms in the hostel are equipped with a plug for your mobile phone, and individual light for reading. Some rooms has views to the Santo Domingo church and the mountain. All guests have access to a shared kitchen with a stove, fridge, utensils, basic pots, and a juice/veggie blender.

    Superb

Definitely the best hostel I ever stayed at, and I've seen some. Specially for latin american standard of hostels, impecable, perfectly clean, tidy and vet spacious. Has a lot of social space, the rooms are great size and beds even more comfortable. Love and effort can be felt at all places, walls, plants, details, and the overall energy, when you come there you don't want ro leave! The breakfast is also great, the food is only vegan or vegetarian and the whole hostel support ecological awareness!

This place was overwhelming at first because there's a lot of people and its a big space and a small kitchen. I was on friendly terms with all the staff and I had no issues. However, nothing else matters because the breakfast is SOO good. Great value, filling, and there's papaya jam.

Such a cool hostal! First vegetarian one I found so far! Everywhere are paintings and the atmosphere is just amazing. The location is very good as well. I ended up staying two nights longer, because I met so many nice people. Theoretically there is everything what you need in the kitchen, not always in the place where it's soposed to be.

Would definitely recommend staying here. The place was spotless, staff were great, artwork on the walls was beatiful and Cuenca as a city is one of my favourite in South America so far. Great spot.

    Very Good

This place has some definite pros and some definite cons which have already been covered well in previous reviews. However, there is an amazing cafe right around the block called MOZART. It is quiet, comfortable, modern, staff are friendly and great coffee and food, as well as excellent wifi. It is a great place to spend the day when you need to just decompress from everything. Highly recommended.

    Good

The hostel is nice. Nice rooms, everything tidy and beautiful, very nice common room. However, the kitchen is terribly equipped and I'm afraid that the few existing tools (for which the guests need to fight) are in horrible conditions and I would dare to say older then me. Wifi is bad and the workers are mainly volunteers who logically don't care as much as a paid worker would. Worst thing: after check-out you have to pay to use whatever in the hostel: kitchen, luggage room, shower and even wifi

    Good

The hostel was well located, reception was open often which was appreciated. There is also free vegetarian and vegan breakfast which was nice. My two biggest complaints are 1) that is it super hard to tell who the staff are, they all seem to be mostly interested in talking to themselves and not that interested in making themselves known in the event that you might have a question. 2) I wasn't convinced by the cleanliness -showers especially.

Was hard to figure out who actually worked there when you needed help. Seemed to just be a clique of volunteers so hard to meet anyone. The showers were grim and there was never any soap in the bathroom. Dorm was cramped. Was very happy to leave.

Guys this hostel isn’t what it seems, it’s a very odd vibe, very cliquey with a bunch of volunteers that keep to themselves and the staff. There is never any room in the refrigerator. You guys need more than one small refrigerator for how many people you host. Honestly this place is a money pit. 5 dollars if you check out after ten or to hang out there while you wait for your bus they call it (day rate) another 2 dollars to store your bag in the closet. It’s not worth it everybody.
