Overview

Anne Hostel Asakusabashi is the first hostel in Tokyo to serve a free breakfast, which includes boiled eggs, toast and hot drinks each day. Warm up in our common room with traditional floor seating and under-table heaters while looking through our range of travel guides and maps to plan your onward journey. You can use the guest computers on each floor for free, or jump onto our complimentary Wi-Fi in the lounge and rooms. Store valuables and luggage in our free lockers – we'll lend you a padlock if you need one.

Location

Just a 5-minute walk from both JR and Toei Asakusabashi stations, you’ll be bartering with the tuna sellers at Tsukiji Fish Market or spotting street art in the Harajuku district within half an hour of leaving the hostel. Narita Airport is just over an hour away by public transport, while Haneda Airport is 30 minutes away. If you’re travelling by Shinkansen bullet train, you’ll need to first get to Tokyo Station, which is 15 minutes away by JR and metro.

Rooms and Dorms

Choose from Western-style dorms with bunk beds or traditional Japanese rooms with futon beds and tatami mat flooring. Dorms come female or male-only, as well as mixed, so you’ll be able to find your ideal set-up. The beds all have individual reading lights, power plugs and curtains for your privacy. Each floor has a shared bathroom, which comes with high-tech Japanese toilets (also known as Washlets), as well as free soap, shampoo and conditioner.

Extras and activities

Drinking a beer from a Japanese vending machine is often on guests' to-do lists, and luckily we have vending machines on hand to help! Grab some dinner in our communal kitchen while you decide what to do tonight – perhaps karaoke at a bar nearby? Or rifle through our selection of board games and see if you can find someone to teach you how to play mahjong. You can also catch up on laundry and ironing with our coin-operated facilities.

    Superb

This place was wonderful. Clean, friendly and safe. Lockers only small enough to keep small belongings in but my bunk had a shelf for my luggage to sit on and I never once felt unsafe leaving it in the dorms. Great shower pressure and amazing location by the station and a handy 7-11. It was just really good and cozy. Rooms were near blacked out when you wanted to sleep so no light complaints. Common area is comfy and everyone is social. Kitchen has its own vending machines for drinks. 10/10

Met some really cool people here! Stayed in a three person room near the kitchen/common area so it can get very loud at times. Staff was super nice and friendly.

The stay was even nicer compared to the last time, owing to the fact that there were fewer people around to make the bedrooms crowded.

Decent place to stay, tight quarters but pretty good. My only complaint is the mattress sank into the middle and was a bit uncomfortable.

Good hostel. Stairs to the top bunks are a bit awkward. The hallways are freezing in the winter but that's like most japanese hostels. Communal room can get a bit cramped. Great selection of toast toppings.

Everything was ok - nothing particularly great about this hostel, but my stay was very comfortable. Lots of useful information and activities around Tokyo in the common areas. Location is close to the Asakusabashi station for JR pass holders.

    Fabulous

This hostel is in a great area. I wanted to visit a lot of spread out sites in Tokyo, Kamakura and Nikko. The hostel was perfectly located for Tokyo's metro and jr travel, including my day trips. There are many restruants and convenience stores in the area as well. The breakfast was toast, eggs, and coffee without a limit. It seemed if you wanted to hang out with folks you could easily do so. The bunk beds had nice privacy curtains and felt well constructed. Would recommend and stay again!

    Very Good

    05 Dec 2019
What truly makes a good hostel for me is the quality of the staff - them being cheerful, helpful and knowledgeable, these go a long way with making a great stay. The host at this hostel was none of those. She really did not seem to want to be there and based on the attitude didn't want me to be there either. FYI, this is the only negative stay experience I have had in Japan in about 4 weeks, and I've stayed in big cities and little towns. Hostel was mostly well equipped otherwise.
