Overview

Take on Tokyo from Anne Hostel Yokozuna – a friendly, well-connected hub in Ryōgoku, aka 'Sumo Town'. We've got an elevator to help you with those heavy bags when you arrive and storage lockers to keep your stuff safe. After a long day of adventuring, soak in our hot tub, get your game on with our Wii or PlayStation in the common room or just sit back and take in Tokyo by night from the rooftop terrace. Want to try out your Japanese cooking skills? The communal kitchen is the spot for sharing food and stories.

Location

It's about an hour from Haneda Airport to the hostel. Catch the Keikyū Kūkō metro line to Asakusabashi then take the Chūō-Sōbu line to Ryōgoku, a three-minute stroll from the hostel. Ryōgoku is a handy metro line, whizzing you to the Buddhist temples of Asakusa, museums and parks of Ueno or the tech-lover's paradise, Akihabara, in under ten minutes. In Ryōgoku itself, foodies can sample Edo cuisine at the Ryōgoku Edo NOREN food and shopping complex and art lovers should wander around the Sumida Hokusai Museum, dedicated to ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai, just a 5-minute walk away.

Rooms and Dorms

Choose between female-only, male-only or mixed dorms or treat yourself to a private room. We have spacious beds with individual lights and curtains, ideal for relaxing with a book or updating your social media (the free Wi-Fi's nice and fast). All rooms and shared bathrooms are nice and clean, to help you feel at home!

Extras and activities

We'll give you free shampoo and conditioner for that well-deserved post-travel shower, as well as free tea and coffee round the clock. Tokyo can get pretty hot in summer, so all our rooms have air con. And smooth out those creases in your shirts with a hired iron and ironing board (we also hire out chargers and adaptors). Want to experience some real Japanese culture? We'll organise for you to see sumos training (be warned – they start early!).

The hostel is right across from one of the local train lines, which makes it easy to get around to other parts of the city. You can hear the train go by if you leave the window open. The bunks are very comfortable and include both a privacy curtain and shelf. The bathrooms are spacious and include multiple toilets, sinks, and showers. The common area and kitchen downstairs are large and make for a great place to hang out. You can also store your luggage here.

After 2 and a half weeks of travelling and some unfortunate experiences in a variety of hostels, it was a pleasure to arrive here and be greeted by such lovely staff members, very clean social areas with lots of information posted around to help with planning and ensuring you get to see the best parts of Tokyo, how to easily get to metro stations, airport etc. The room was very clean and spacious, the beds were very comfy and the bathroom facilities were also immaculate! Wonderful experience.

Can't recommend this place enough. The location was perfect right next to the train station, plenty of places to eat along the street, and the room/facilities were perfect.

Really close to both a JR station and a subway station so super convenient, although a little far from places like Shinjuku and Shibuya. Clean and staff were nice. Easy to find. Bed was very comfortable.

The staff at Anne Yokozuna were friendly and helpful. When we arrived we had been exhausted from the flight and our room (private) was wonderfully maintained. We were happy with the location, as it is directly next to the Ryogoku station. The location may not look like much on the outside but inside it has full accommodations, CLEAN bathrooms and the surrounding area is a hidden gem. My only complaint is the hostel is a bit humid. Please check out the bakery nearby, Saint Etoile.

A very chilled out place, a minute away from the subway and metro lines. An ideal place if you want a good nights sleep after a busy in the city, since it is located in a quieter section of Tokyo. Would totally recommend.

    Very Good

    01 Jul 2019
The room I stayed in was very hot as the AC didn't work well. Also the pillow and bed is not very comfortable. I had sleeping trouble for the remaining stay. The bathroom is very humid, and hair is everywhere. I guess other guests think someone will clean after themselves. That's disgusting behaviour! The staff is nice and the location very close to the train station.
