Property Description

We hope you will try one of our super-budget rooms on our remodeled 3rd floor! This floor is actually an extension of the Asakusa Ryokan Toukaisou, but it is slightly different. You may reserve private rooms for 2-4 people, or you can stay in our mixed dormitory room, where you would stay with other travelers.

Rooms on the 3rd floor are Japanese style, with tatami floors. Rooms do not come with private bathrooms or showers, and guests are kindly asked to use shared common bathrooms (men and women are separate). If you would really like a room with a private bathroom, please check availability on our 1st and 2nd floors, Asakusa Ryokan Toukaisou.

We are most excited about the completion of a living room in the center of the 3rd floor. Guests may relax in the spacious, sunshine-filled, tatami-floored room to watch TV, use free internet and talk to other travelers from all over the world. We hope guests will take advantage of this opportunity to interact and make new friends with all kinds of people.

This floor includes a coin-operated laundry machine, a microwave, refrigerator, plates and silverware, TV, and computers with free internet access. Also, the whole building is set up for free Wi-Fi internet access.

In the heart of Tokyo you will enjoy an inexpensive, cozy, and convenient stay at the Hostel Toukaisou.
We are located in Asakusa, the heart of the old downtown (Shitamachi) of Tokyo, an area reminiscent of traditional Japan which is quite rare in modern-day Tokyo.

Asakusa Toukaisou is located in Asakusa and is also very close to Ueno. Our location has quick and easy access to Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo Tower, Roppongi, Tokyo Sky Tree, Akihabara, Ginza, Kabukiza, Shibuya, Tsujiki and more, mostly within a half hour by train and subway.

We are located a mere 5-minute walk from TAWARAMACHI Station (on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Line), and a 3-minute walk from ASAKUSA Station (on the Tsukuba Express).

A little away from the central Asakusa but very quiet and there are excellent authentic ramen and Chinese restaurants (independent of convenient distant effects). The hostel was good tatami room, amenity was perfect to me. If you are with heavy luggage bags, please ask them in advance (no elevator).

The owner/manager has got to be the nicest host I've ever experienced while checking in to a hostel. He even helped me carry my bags to my room at midnight when I checked in!

The place is very clean, so near to Sensoji Temple is about 500 meter away. Restaurants, shops, mini markets all are there just 300 meters away.We stayed 3nights there. On our first and 2nd days, it was a bit tricky to find the train station as walked very long way as Asakusa Station but on the last day we found the easiest way from Asakusa St to the hostel. The staffs are very friendly especially Alexio, he’s very nice & helpful with all my bookings. Highly recommended!! Will stay again next time!

    Fabulous

Good hostel, very clean and great location for sightseeing in Ueno, Asakusa area and close to the Tsukuba express as well as a 10 minute walk to the Ginza and Toni-Asakusa line. Nightlife wise not a great location. Beds were comfy, no privacy curtain though sadly. Only one toilet and two showers which isn’t enough especially if it’s a full house. Would recommend this hostel especially at the price point.

Good location and a nice place and helpful staff. Only thing is that there are only very small lockers and the rooms are usually open.

    Very Good

Very affordable location and very close to the main sights of Asakusa. Certainly more of a hotel with little atmosphere. Be advised that Asakusa is probably the least "Tokyo" area of Tokyo and it's a long metro ride to Shibuya, Shinjuku, etc.

    Very Good

    14 Oct 2018
Location was slightly difficult to find at the end via Google Maps coming from Ueno station (20-min walk) and is a 10-min walk to the closest subway station. Staff gave hostel info but matter of factly, not friendly. However, communication was quick online via Airbnb. Room smelled stuffy with nothing in it other than the bunk beds. There were 2 showers for each bathroom so 2 for women and 2 for men, but we saw mold in the men's showers. Common room was nice and had good touristic info.
