Hostelworld says

Ashfield House is in the very centre of Dublin, between Trinity College and O'Connell St. Our visitors have said this 'excellent location' makes the hostel a 'very handy little place to crash after a night in Temple Bar'. This 'perfect home away from home' has 'friendly and helpful' staff who 'go out of their way' to help, plus free luggage storage, a 'delicious and filling' breakfast and an ''eat me I'm free' cabinet' in the kitchen. We like their daily walking tours of Dublin.

My room was on Level 2 but had no access to the lift. I was given the option to leave my big luggage in the storage room for free, which was a good alternative. Was just a little of hassle to pack all my shopping in by the last day 😅

Awesome location, great reception staff and good bed/shower. Appeared pretty clean although the floor was quite sticky but that’s my only complaint. Would stay again!

    Very Good

First of all, I've paid this price for hotels in other countries, which is a bit underwhelming. The price for a mixed 6 bed room is similar of a private room in Spain. Anyways, the hostel was pretty well located, near of the most touristic places. Receptionists were fairly kind and helpful, but sometimes they wouldn't attend you quick enough for spontaneous doubts. The mood of the place was quite good, they did choose proper music and lighting. Overall was adequately clean.

    Good

First impression wasn’t a good one. I had emailed them a month prior to extend my stay by one day before. The email confirmation said reply to confirm, my plans changed so I didn’t reply to confirm. Without any other email, and my hostel world dates unchanged I didn’t think I was booked. When I arrived at the hostel I learned I was booked and there was no way to change it... €40+ Extra. The Ashfield room bathroom light is always streaming into the room. Bathroom is open & tiny. Not impressed.

The shower door in my washroom would not close all the way. There were traces of hair on the comforter and mattresses.

Location was good but the construction right outside was too much. Three different guys helped me at the front desk for various things. The atmosphere is stand-offish to non-existent. The en-suite bathroom was gross and the shower fits a slender child. I could feel all the bars bc my mattress was so worn. The hot tools in the bathroom for hire didn’t work. Wouldn’t stay again.

Ashfield Hostel says

This place has the perfect combination of location and comfort, opposite Trinity College but in a quieter street. We cater to all ages - backpackers, school and university groups, families, couples, etc. We've got a free walking tour every morning, a pub crawl from the hostel every evening and free DVDs/games. The building has an elevator and our fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable, good-looking staff are happy to help anyone who needs assistance. They also have tons of recommendations; personally, I usually tell guests they should visit the Book of Kells at Trinity College and Library. Lynda, General Manager
