This hostel is under new mgmt. We stayed Aug 9-11-17. The new owner Gerry was friendly & very hospitable. He loaned me a hairdryer :) We stayed in one of their hotel rms with its own small, but perfectly fine bthrm (great pressure & hot water), kitchenette (stove, sink, sm fridge & toaster oven.) There were 2 dbl beds ... a bit tight but accomodated the 3 of us nicely. The mattresses were very comfortable with clean sheets. Floors were dirty and dusty but not filthy. Room needs hooks on walls

    Very Good

It was located in a great part of town, which wasn't so central to downtown. It still had accessibility to a lot of great places to eat and drink nearby and only a 5-10 minute drive to the old city and primarily in a quieter area of the city. My one complaint I have was that there was literally one bathroom shared among a bunch of people. I had to wait 30 mins every morning. I also had another guest yell at me for using the bathroom, which was totally uncalled for. Gerry is awesome and helpful!

This little hostel have easy access to the main line that goes directly to the city centre. It's like 15 minutes away in bus. The hostel was not so clean, but the staff is willing to help you with everything you need.

We've enjoyed our stay at Auberge Maison Roy, however if you're picky concerning Cleanliness and Facilities, you should maybe pick a different place. We stayed at one of the dorms, the bathrooms are clean and good but everything else is kinda rusty and dirty. The breakfast is only 3 CAD (it was included for us), and it's OK. Nothing fancy but enough to get you active and ready for the day. The location is quite good, as it is next to a bus station which brings you into town within 5 mins.

Not a great location as you have to catch the bus into town at $3.50 each way. The dorm room had no lock and complete strangers would just walk in and out of the room at any given moment and any time of day. It wasn't very clean and the bunks were so low that it would have been a problem if I didn't like small spaces. The price was reasonable but only in comparison to those further into town. Also all the food in the snack machine is long out of date, that's if you can get the machine to work!

I do a lot of backpacking so I'm used to less than stellar accommodations but this place was really awful. The dorm rooms are in a musty basement. Cigarette smell in the rooms despite the "100% non smoking" on their website. No top sheet between me and a very old comforter that still had someone else's hair attached to it. Bunks are too low to sit up in and there are no common spaces to hang out in instead. The "kitchen" is a joke, not enough utensils to reheat leftovers let alone make a meal.

When we arrived the manager didn't have the correct info for our booking and was extremely rude and unhelpful. When he finally realised HIS error, it turned out he had double booked our room, he was unapologetic and carried on with his nasty attitude, even threatening to fraudulently use our credit card - what a horrible experience! We decided to go elsewhere, the university campus just down the road is much nicer. Check TripAdvisor, there are similar reviews there.
