Hostelworld says

Our users have said staying at Avalon House is 'like if you were at a friend's house'. This hostel sits just between the nightlife areas of Temple Bar and Wexford Street, ideal for those looking for a pub off the beaten track. Hostelworld guests often say how much they appreciate the busy common room, with ping pong, a pool table, foosball and a PlayStation. We particularly like the Starbucks café at the front of the hostel, where you can meet the locals or your fellow travellers over some of the best coffee in town.

Property Description

At Avalon House, we pride ourselves on Irish hospitality, an unbelievable location, and helping each of our guests to experience the best that Dublin has to offer. We provide clean, secure and budget accommodation and are located between the legendary nightlife areas of Temple Bar, Camden Street and Harcourt Street. We are also just minutes Trinity College and THE closest hostel to St. Stephen’s Green where the Vikings amongst our guests will be picked up for the daily Viking Splash tours.

It’ll only cost you €3.30 and take about 55 minutes to get the number 16 bus to us from the airport to our front door! If you prefer a speedy bus, both the 747 and 700 stop 10 minutes away from us, and cost €12 euro for a return ticket.

Every guest can make the most of our free continental breakfast, a big self-catering kitchen, reading room, chill room, games room (equipped with board games, table tennis and a pool table) as well as our newly opened cinema room where you can sit back on our comfy sofas and watch Netflix on our ridiculously huge 65” screen! We also have tablets for guest use, and of course, free WIFI!

There is a free walking tour which departs from our reception every morning at 10:30! We also provide free city maps, event guides, and if that wasn’t enough, our staff are very knowledgeable, multilingual and can help you find the best events and activities to enjoy whilst you stay with us.

We can offer you different types of accommodation to make the most of travelling solo, in a small gathering or a big group. This includes dorm rooms ranging from 4 to 12 beds to meet fellow travellers or stay with a group and a selection of private triple, twin/double and single rooms with en suites or shared facilities.

Please note that anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult and can only stay in one of our private en suites rooms. View House Rules

Overview

Whether you're visiting Dublin to party or explore the culture (or both), Avalon House is in a handy spot right at the heart of the city. Get to know fellow travellers over foosball and table tennis in the games room, or chill in the cinema room in front of our massive 65'' screen. Multilingual staff are on hand at our 24-hour reception to share tips on the best places to visit. With our free city maps, event guides and walking tours, it's easy to get to know this fun, friendly city. Plus, we put on a free continental breakfast every day!

Location

We're in a prime location (if we do say so ourselves!), nestled between Temple Bar and the Trinity College area. The number 16 bus takes under an hour from the airport and drops you off at our front door. If you want to get here quicker, pick up the 747 or 700 and reach us in 30 minutes. To get involved in Dublin's well known drinking scene, walk five minutes to Wexford Street to discover some of the traditional Irish pubs tucked away outside of the busy area. When you're ready to dance the night away, head over to Camden Street.

Rooms and Dorms

There's lift access to our rooms, and you'll find clean mixed dorms, private triples and doubles to keep you and your friends comfortable during your stay. If you're a solo traveller looking for your own space, choose one of our single en-suite rooms for a bit of peace and quiet after an action-packed day. Linen is included and Wi-Fi is free, so you needn't use up your data.

Extras and activities

Cook your own lunches and dinners in our spacious self-catering kitchen when you're not exploring Dublin's brunch scene or characterful evening restaurants. When your batteries need a recharge, play some pool or board games in our games room or borrow one of our tablets to plan your next move in the chill room.

I paid €50 to be crammed into a TINY (im talking heads right next to feet) room with 4 dusty bunk beds. And had to go 2 stories up to take a shower because there were only 3 showers on my level and no showers on the one above me. And their “free breakfast” consists of 2 types of stale cereal and bread. Wish this was not my last choice for a hostel on a Saturday night in Dublin. I don’t recommend.

the experience has been good despite how small the rooms are and the poor cleanliness of the bathrooms and showers .. I think they can and should improve. As well as the kitchen becomes very small when the Hostel is full of people.

Avalon house was the cheapest I could find when looking for hostels near city centre in Dublin, so you get what you pay for. Free breakfast was great and it was close to a lot of active places in the city but the ensuite bathroom was very small, had a strange smell and the shower drain was clogged the entire 3 days I was there.

Avalon House says

We like to create a home away from home atmosphere for our guests. We pride ourselves on customer service and ensuring your Dublin experience is an unforgettable one!
We\'re a Victorian building with character near most of central Dublin, like Grafton Street (3min walk),Temple Bar (5min walk), St Stephen\'s Green (2min walk), Vicar Street (6min walk), St Patrick\'s Cathedral (2min walk) and the Guinness Storehouse (20min walk). I usually recommend that people visit the National Archaeology Museum as well; it\'s free and only a three-minute walk away. We look forward to welcoming you soon . Team, Avalon House
