Hostelworld says

Our users have said staying at Avalon House is 'like if you were at a friend's house'. This hostel sits just between the nightlife areas of Temple Bar and Wexford Street, ideal for those looking for a pub off the beaten track. Hostelworld guests often say how much they appreciate the busy common room, with ping pong, a pool table, foosball and a PlayStation. We particularly like the Starbucks café at the front of the hostel, where you can meet the locals or your fellow travellers over some of the best coffee in town.

The staff here were super helpful and the location is pretty good. We ended up walking pretty much everywhere but you could also take the bus. We stayed in a 12 person room that was quite hot, so we had to have the window open. However, it got a little cold at night so we woke up a bit cold. There was also only 1 women’s and 1 men’s bathroom for the whole floor, which would probably be too small during busy times, but I didn’t find it to be a problem. Good value for the low price!

Although the staff is very friendly and helpful, this is still one of those big, modern and somewhat impersonal hostel. Good for young people who want to party and sleep cheaply and safely. Not very cozy, but clean and functional.

Not the best ,not the worst, but no major complaints. Stayed in a twin private room which was nothing special but did the job. The showers and bathrooms on the 4th floor were immaculate. Seemed too easy for non-guests to access the hostel however this would only worry me had I stayed in a dorm room. I never availed of the activities the hostel offers so I can not comment on them. My biggest issue was that the receptionists initially failed to recognize my Garda age card as a form of national Id

Good place for youngs, in the city center. Phonic isolation is a bit weak, but rules at here to let you sleep. Be ready to respect it.

You get what you pay for. Small rooms and no bathroom privacy, but it’s clean and placed in a good location. Basic continental breakfast.

I don’t think the room was worth the money to be honest. I have stayed in nicer hostels for less. I thought my room was grubby but the bed itself was clean with fresh sheets and comfortable. The staff were very accommodating and helpful and the hostel offers free tours of Dublin and other activities It’s located in a great part only five or so mins walk from city centre. Next door to the hostel is a beautiful church worth visiting which houses relics of st Valentine, worth visiting

Front staff member very rude on arrival. Rooms are very basic but good if you just want to put head down. Location is great..most places easy to walk too or catch a bus. Breakfast is cereals, toast and hot drink. Very helpful staff in kitchen, self serve and clean.

WARNING - WORST HOSTEL EVER Deceptive advertising to mislead customers - dry hostel with no alcohol allowed. Staff are responsible to stand in kitchens and enforce this rule. €80 fine No atmosphere - layout of hostel not conducive to fun Staff treat their job like a means to an end, reluctant to help and quickly blame customers. Kitchen only usable from 11:00 - 22:30 - not on ad Push-button shower in small bathroom where paint is peeling. Power outlets are nowhere near the beds. Waste of money.

Avalon House says

We like to create a home away from home atmosphere for our guests. We pride ourselves on customer service and ensuring your Dublin experience is an unforgettable one!
We\'re a Victorian building with character near most of central Dublin, like Grafton Street (3min walk),Temple Bar (5min walk), St Stephen\'s Green (2min walk), Vicar Street (6min walk), St Patrick\'s Cathedral (2min walk) and the Guinness Storehouse (20min walk). I usually recommend that people visit the National Archaeology Museum as well; it\'s free and only a three-minute walk away. We look forward to welcoming you soon . Team, Avalon House
