Hostelworld says

Our users have said staying at Avalon House is 'like if you were at a friend's house'. This hostel sits just between the nightlife areas of Temple Bar and Wexford Street, ideal for those looking for a pub off the beaten track. Hostelworld guests often say how much they appreciate the busy common room, with ping pong, a pool table, foosball and a PlayStation. We particularly like the Starbucks café at the front of the hostel, where you can meet the locals or your fellow travellers over some of the best coffee in town.

Property Description

At Avalon House, we pride ourselves on Irish hospitality, an unbelievable location, and helping each of our guests to experience the best that Dublin has to offer. We provide clean, secure and budget accommodation and are located between the legendary nightlife areas of Temple Bar, Camden Street and Harcourt Street. We are also just minutes Trinity College and THE closest hostel to St. Stephen’s Green where the Vikings amongst our guests will be picked up for the daily Viking Splash tours.

It’ll only cost you €3.30 and take about 55 minutes to get the number 16 bus to us from the airport to our front door! If you prefer a speedy bus, both the 747 and 700 stop 10 minutes away from us, and cost €12 euro for a return ticket.

Every guest can make the most of our free continental breakfast, a big self-catering kitchen, reading room, chill room, games room (equipped with board games, table tennis and a pool table) as well as our newly opened cinema room where you can sit back on our comfy sofas and watch Netflix on our ridiculously huge 65” screen! There is a free walking tour which departs from our reception every morning at 10:30! We also provide free city maps, event guides, and if that wasn’t enough, our staff are very knowledgeable, multilingual and can help you find the best events and activities to enjoy whilst you stay with us.

We can offer you different types of accommodation to make the most of travelling solo, in a small gathering or a big group. This includes dorm rooms ranging from 4 to 12 beds to meet fellow travellers or stay with a group and a selection of private triple, twin/double and single rooms with en suites or shared facilities.

Please note that anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult and can only stay in one of our private en suites rooms. View House Rules

I brought a group of college students to Avalon House and feel we received a warm welcome and excellent service. The staff went beyond what I might have expected to help us situate ourselves in Dublin, taking plenty of time to patiently talk with each person who needed directions to various sights. Breakfast is simple but plenty of good food. Having someone at the reception desk 24 hours a day is helpful. Great location - easy to walk most places of interest, set in a quiet neighborhood.

As an older client, I was impressed by how relatively quiet and considerate the younger backpackers were. There was a friendly atmosphere, and the staff couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. The place was clean and there were lockers to protect one's possessions. And Avalon is beautifully central.

Perfect for the location, easy to walk around less than 5 minutes from St Patrick’s Cathedral, Grafton Street for shopping, etc. Appreciated that it was quiet at night! Bathrooms and rooms were small but as expected for a hostel, and kept clean. Just what we needed to save money and have a great time in Dublin.

Great, safe place. I got the single room. Everything was very clean. The sinks in the rooms are very noisy though and we can hear them in the neighbouring rooms. Great location, 100% walkable to all the Dublin hotspots and transport facilities.

    Fabulous

    15 May 2019
We stayed in a private room with a private bathroom (with a makeshift shower drain in the floor, but worked like a charm! And the place is eco-friendly!) Room has just enough room for a bed and the walls are paper thin, but you’re out exploring anyways. Very friendly staff, and you show your security pass every time you enter the building. Our flight arrived before check in, so they have good sized lockers that fit 4 carryons for €2 per day plus a €10 deposit. Breakfast was toast/cereal/etc.

    Fabulous

There were no lockers in the rooms so you had to pay €2 a day for them if you were going out to explore the day you checked out. The breakfast was good but a little chaotic. Great cheap location for Dublin. Bathrooms were pretty far down the hall so a bit of an inconvenience and the atmosphere was only so so- lots of big groups and school groups there so hard to meet ppl. Good enough stay for a couple nights in Dublin.

Great location. I got the twin room which was pretty decent. For a bit more you could get a hotel room a bit further up the road from the centre. Staff we nice, didn't mind when we came and went. I would recommend the place for those wanting to spend the weekend around the centre and Temple Bar area

The hostel was fine, but smelled weird. The rooms of 8 were small for that amount of beds and there were no place to put our bags. Nonetheless, the room was clean and the beds comfortable enough. Showers (hot water if youre lucky) and toilets were ok, but I've seen cleaner. Overall, it is a farely good price-quality, since hostels in Dublin are so expensive. I wouldnt go back unless it is my only affordable option.

    Very Good

Overall Avalon house was a decent place to stay but the way of keeping your stuff locked up is highly inconvenient and becomes very annoying as you have to keep anything you want locked up on the first floor so I was continually going into the locker room to get stuff throughout the day from the third floor. Not to mention the locker where things are kept is very small so you continually have to move your things so other can get by to do the same thing. Lockers suck here!

We like to create a home away from home atmosphere for our guests. We pride ourselves on customer service and ensuring your Dublin experience is an unforgettable one!
We\'re a Victorian building with character near most of central Dublin, like Grafton Street (3min walk),Temple Bar (5min walk), St Stephen\'s Green (2min walk), Vicar Street (6min walk), St Patrick\'s Cathedral (2min walk) and the Guinness Storehouse (20min walk). I usually recommend that people visit the National Archaeology Museum as well; it\'s free and only a three-minute walk away. We look forward to welcoming you soon . Team, Avalon House
