Property Description

Babila Hostel & Bistrot is an unique design hostel in the heart of Milan. The historical building that gives home to it was built in 1896 and had been a catholic school for a long time. The hostel was inaugurated on September 15th 2017 and it is located in the fashion district of Milan, walking distance from San Babila square and subway station, buses and trams.
The idea of our design is mixing old and new, traditional and fashionable to bring past and present closer, keeping the original characteristics of the building with a modern touch.
Our rooms are bright and spacious, each of them featuring an ensuite bathroom with shower, equipped with soap and shampoo. Each bed has its own lamp, socket with usb adapter and locker. Towels and bed sheets are provided by us. Free breakfast served from 7:30 to 10:30 (muesli, cereals, fruit, juices, milk, coffee and hot drinks, tart, croissant, cheese and ham, bread with butter, jam, chocolate and honey).
From the terrace at the third floor it is possible to enjoy the view over the rooftops of Milan.

In our Bar & Bistrot area you can try some traditional Italian dishes and our chef Atif’s specialties. Every week, we organize concerts, jam sessions, art exhibitions and multicultural gatherings, so you can enjoy the party with your new friends and with locals from Milan. From the first day we wanted to create a place where it is possible to breath an international atmosphere, where people can get connected through cultural exchanges, and enjoy the pleasure to be together with no barriers.

We care about our planet and try to be green as much as possible. We are only one drop in the sea… but we believe that a lot of drops together can make the difference. Based on this, we do not use straws in the bar, bathrooms are equipped with dispensers so to reduce disposable packaging, we put a lot of attention on selective waste collection, we provide a digital map designed by us to avoid paper waste and we choose partners and suppliers who share our same values and mission.

We are glad to offer you:

- Ipads to use as long as you want

Set inside a 20th-century Italian Tudor building with big, arched windows, Babila Hostel is atmospheric as it is awesome. You'll find a stylish bistro and bar on site (don't leave home without trying a Milanese spritz!) or you can combine cooking with tanning thanks to the rooftop barbecue area – complete with amazing views. From the moment you rock up and get handed a welcome drink, you'll see this is a super friendly hostel. We also have facilities like a clean, open kitchen where you can cook, chat and chill, as well as sit down for a free breakfast! Common areas with a PlayStation add to the fun.

We're in Milan's fashion quarter, about a 15-minute walk from the city's spectacular cathedral. Just behind it, you'll find Luigi's, the home of melt-in-your-mouth panzerottis (grab one of our free city maps to find your way there!). Coming late from Milan Linate Airport? You can check in any time – we've got a 24-hour reception. There's a bus that goes from Arrivals to Milan Centrale Railway Station in the daytime. Hop on the metro from here towards the Duomo, then change for San Babila station. We're an 8-minute walk from here, and all in all the trip will take a speedy half an hour.

Rooms and Dorms

We took inspiration from major Italian designers when creating our rooms and we love bright colours! There are private options or female-only and mixed dorms, all with en-suites, and you'll have your bedding and towels included (bonus). Each bunk has a super useful USB, plug socket and lamp.

Extras and activities

Our hostel is the place to hang out and make new friends, because our staff love to get guests mixing with one another! Our events – including karaoke nights, live music and DJ sets – are just made for bonding over. We've even got a gym if you want a workout, or you can just take it easy in the café.

It was definitely the best hostel I have ever stayed in my life, everything was super clean, big rooms, staff adorable, each room there’s bathroom with shower plus a extra bathroom outside, good bed, good location, there’s a nice breakfast included and they have this nice “happy hour” with drinks for half of price everyday, I love it

Really friendly, helpful and multilingual staff. The hostel itself was beautiful, with a quaint elevator and grand staircases. There is a rooftop terrace that can be used for a relaxing morning coffee as much as a for a cheeky Aperol Spritz. The food was pretty great, almost encouraging you to simply stay in for lunch and dinner. As for location, it is close to the Duomo and the centre, however it is a good 40+ minute walk from the Navigli district. They provide a useful online map.

We had fun staying at this hostel! There was a party on the night we arrived and it was friendly and lively. It was also very clean and stylish. There was a nice kitchen with a roof top seating area. Free breakfast in the morning was very nice. Close walking distance to the cathedral.

Really enjoyed my stay here and the free welcome drink was a great touch. The area is quiet but only a short walk to the main square at the centre of Milan where the cathedral is! The dorm was big and en suite bathroom was really nice and very clean. My only complaint is that breakfast was quite limited and the bed was quite uncomfortable!! I would stay again

Would thoroughly recommend staying here when you visit Milan. The rooms were beautiful, comfy and spotlessly clean, and the location is not far from the Duomo and great places to eat.

This was my first time solo travelling and my first stop in Italy was this hostel in Milan. I found the staff to be a bit awkward due to language barrier but generally helpful and friendly. The only hostel out of 5 I've stayed in Italy that included an actual decent breakfast. The rooms are spacious and very well maintained and clean. Despite COVID, I met lots of like minded friendly people, within 5 minutes of arriving met another solo traveller to go sight seeing with for the rest of my stay

It's a great place to stay. Kitchen is pretty well equipped. Breakfast is good, atmosphere is friendly. You've got a pretty good bar downstairs and the hostel is well at wlaking distance from Duomo (15 min). Showers are not that good (water was kinda cold and didn't have much pressure). The overall cleanliness is OK. The facilities are OK although it's kind of a mystery were do people hang out, you kinda gotta guess it yourself. Staff is friendly, good value for money overall.
