Backpackers International is a no frills hostel that met our every need! Tisa (management) is so lovely, our airport pickup was patient after the flight was delayed, the facilities were clean, lots of kitchen supplies for cooking, ping pong downstairs was awesome, and best of all the hostel was quiet, despite having lot of young adults there drinking. There is a $5 burger joint next door, and you get discounted scooter and bicycle rentals if you mention that you are staying at this hostel!

Stayed three nights, we were picked up on time at the airport but did have to wait a while for the next flight to land to shuttle two other guests to the hostel as well. Room was clean and bright, good showers, nice big kitchen. 3 minutes walk from the beach, a shop, cafe and rental place for bikes and snorkels etc. Fantastic stay I would go back. Friendly staff and a late check out was great for us and a very affordable price. Thankyou!

This hostel was perfect for our 7 night holiday. We were provided with affordable airport transfers, amazing & helpful staff, and a great hostel. The beach, cafe and grocery store is 100m away (perfect for sunsets being on the west), and the bus stop just at the bottom of the road too. The rooms were basic, but comfy and clean and so were the bathroom facilities. The outside garden area was perfect to meet new friends and most people hung out there. A truly great place to stay in Rarotonga.

Very friendly and communal environment with lots of socializing! Great location, one minute walk from beach, a rental shop, a convienence store, and a cafe. Some cleanliness issues-- had multiple blood stains on my sheets. Overall, good value and atmosphere!

    Very Good

Was apprehensive at first booking this place looking at past reviews, but stayed for 2 weeks and was happy with my choice. Communication with management regarding booking and airport transfer was efficient. The hostel itself is somewhat old and run down, but it has the basic facilities you need and is cleaned on a regular basis. Easy access to buses, convenience store and swimming beach. If you understand you’re not staying at The Ritz, this place is the best value for money on island.

I have a lot to say but have no characters so I'll limit it to - MOLD! I woke up every morning coughing and feeling sick, but felt fine walking around during the day. After a little over a week, I was always sick. Then I realized the mattress was covered in mold... yeah. I've stayed in a lot of hostels, and this one was my least favorite, it made it difficult to enjoy my time in Rarotonga. I heard good things about Rarotonga Backpackers but didn't check it out myself. Explore other options!

This hostel is absolutely terrible. To start I arrived at 1am and was made to pay for 7 nights, instead only stayed for a single night and left ASAP. The place is disgustingly dirty, room was full of mould and linen not washed. One single wall plug in the room that is all the way on the ceiling. The bathroom is dirty and has used tampons lying in the corner. The hallway also smells like something had died. There are much better places to stay on the island for less.
