Explore the district and get in touch with St. Pauli.
Learn about the history of this special area of Hamburg. From the beginning as the ropemakers worked by the river
and gave famous Reeperbahn its name over the 60ies where the Beatles made their first steps on stage to the middle
of the 80ies as Hafenstraße was squatted and now.

After a night in our cosy beds enjoy our breakfast buffet at the hostelcafé, enjoy our quality coffee or fix your own food in our hostelkitchen.
In the evening our hostelcafé turns into the meeting point to plan the nightlife. From the movie theatre(OmU) just across the road to life music or clubbing. We are located close to the most venues/clubs/bars. Warm up with snacks and drinks including a nice range of handcrafted beers from Hamburg.

Bedlinen is inclusive but please make your bed. Sleeping without bed-linen, using own bed-linen or sleepingbags is not allowed. Please understand that sleeping bags will be stored separately and handed back at departure.

Overview

We've got a laid-back kind of vibe here at Backpackers St. Pauli. Spend lazy afternoons in our lounge area using the free Wi-Fi and compare travel snaps with your fellow travellers (we reckon you can get the most Instagram likes!). Or go for a coffee and slice of German cheesecake in our café bar – switch things up to local craft beers and schnapps in the evening. There's also an outdoor terrace where you can hang out with new mates. Get some burgers (Hamburgers, naturally!) cooking on the barbecue before heading out to make the most of the city's famous nightlife.

Location

Arriving by train into Hamburg Hauptbahnhof? We're only about 20 minutes away by metro if you take S lines 1, 2, 3, 21 or 31 then walk for about 13 minutes. If you're flying into Hamburg Airport, take S1 for 34 minutes to Hamburg Reeperbahn, and our door's a 13-minute stroll away. On sunny weekends, make your way to the beach at Strandperle – it's about 30 minutes away via bus 36. The legendary Reeperbahn district is a must-see – think fluorescent lights, lively clubs and fast food – and it's only a 14-minute walk away!

Rooms and Dorms

Our rooms are simple and comfortable, with a reading light for each bunk and self-lock storage lockers that are big enough to take even bulky backpacks. The dorms are mixed or female-only and most have en-suites – some rooms have balconies too! We've got plenty of fresh towels and sheets, just hire them from reception.

Extras and activities

As well as offering light bites (including a tasty buffet breakfast) in our café, we've also got a kitchen where you can keep your beers cold or make hot meals and snacks. Stop by reception and pick up a free city map to help you find your way to the beach or the River Elbe. We've also got bike parking, so if you hire one for a few days, there's somewhere safe to keep it overnight.

Really great hostel. Nice vibe and a lot of solo travelers. All the areas are very clean and the staff is helpful and friendly. Tonya is great, very sarcastic and funny. Beds are sturdy and comfy, nice windows and balcony in our 6bed! Nice outdoor patio and cheap breakfast options. Tucked into a quiet part of st. Pauli, a short walk from a few hip areas.

Super cool place in an awesome neighbourhood, I love all the left-wing stickers and street art around the place. The staff were lovely and the bar and outdoor area were quite social, I recommend for solo travelers.

Great small homey hostel with a warm friendly environment. Wonderful staff who enjoy socializing with guests. Quiet and peaceful but close to most major attractions. Worth the stay just to have a drink with their full-time resident Marius, who is often at the bar. Rooms are cleaned thoroughly every day. My only complaint is the detached showerhead— they claim it keeps guests from taking too long, but my and my roommates showers took just as long fumbling around with the shower head...

Great hostel but not a place to have a good sleep cos although comfortable beds there is a lot of noise that you are going to hear from the windows. Otherwise good and will go back again.

Great hostel in a fun part of town! So many things to do in st. Pauli. Rooms were kept very clean and kitchen down stairs has everything you need. A larger table for more people to sit in the kitchen area would be a nice addition :) Staff are very friendly, and beer is a reasonable price in the fun little bar. Highly recommended!

This was a nice hostel to stay at, given how seedy St. Pauli can be. Really close to the metro and buses, plus other amenities. Bathroom was huge in my dorm! Receptionist was also flexible to allow me to pay breakfast with card! Overall I would probably stay here again.

I didn't spend much time, I only stayed for one night. Staff were really nice, the kitchen was great and the rooms were okay. The bathrooms were tiny. The location was really nice, even if it means a little walk to the city centre. It seems a great hostel

Backyard available for drinking beer or for having breakfast if the weather is nice. Also the only hostel near St Pauli so a nice area to hang around for food and drinks if you’re willing to make the (fairly short) trip from the city centre.

    Good

Nice location, the neighbour is hipster with a lot to offer. There is not a place at this hostel to hangout in after dinner because the bar closes at 11:00pm and there is an unspoken curfew because all the neighbours complain. So even if you are in the kitchen you have to be quiet. However, one of the lady’s behind the front desk is rude. Once we were being too loud (even though it was normal levels the neighbours complained) and she basically yelled at us rather than politely letting us know.
