Even though this was my first stay at the Barefoot Hostel, it won't be my last! I'll definitely be back on the first weekend of August and maybe just come over in the fall for photos and such! Thanks for a great experience!

Unassuming from the outside but very comfortable and welcoming on the inside! The beds were comfortable, there was an excellent shower, and the whole place felt very clean.

Barefoot Hostel was an absolutely great place to stay! Walking to Parliament, museums, and ByWard Market was incredibly easy from this location. The rooms, bathrooms, and common areas were super clean, the beds we're actually very nice to sleep on, and the shower was the best I've ever experienced at a hostel! Would definitely recommend this to any women traveling in Ottawa, especially of you're alone and looking for a safe place to make new friends!

I found the hostel charming, although I was worried because of a street I passed through to get to it (a few homeless people). I realized it was actually a pretty safe place, very clean and with everything you might need. Not to mention the location is great (close to bus stop, close to the ByWard market, to the Metro supermarket and 15 min walk from parliament)

Loved staying here! Great location, super close to downtown, nice facilities, comfortable bed and nice community! Heads up that it’s pretty close to a homeless shelter so keep that in mind if you’re coming back late at night. But nevertheless, would definitely stay here again.

I liked the chill and open space downstairs. Each room had lockers and upstairs' bathroom seemed newly renovated. They don't have a stove or oven, but otherwise kitchen was good.

Great location and good wifi. REALLY hot upstairs and very small rooms for 4 people so not really space for bags. Lockers very small. Could invest in personal fans and power plugs. Shower really good upstairs.

Good things: new towels everyday, clean and tidy, big shower (downstairs one was tiny), comfy beds, nice lounge area. There were v few people so we ended up with a private room anyway! Bad things: water ran cold after three people showering, (god knows what it would be like if the hostel was full), chairs in the lounge were dodgy (watch out!), kitchenette is badly equipped (whisk but no teaspoons), dodgy tap upstairs as well, windows weren’t allowed to be opened. Would be cramped if full.

This is not the hostel you go to if you want to meet others to explore the city with. The were hardly any other guests, one night I was even the only person there (with no reception in the building itself meant I was completely by myself in a unknown city - not a comfortable feeling). Lots of passive aggressive signs around the hostel, no food or drinks allowed in rooms. I also found it slightly worn down, not as nice as in the pictures. One good thing: beds were very comfortable!
