Overview

Bastardo Hostel in Madrid is creative, a little cheeky and ready to make an impression! We have a designer bar and a terrace bar, plus a cool common area if you're after group hangouts. We love hosting events and performers, too, like comedians and musicians, tango lessons and yoga classes. Our restaurant, Limbo, serves delicious BBQ bites washed down with local beers, including some made right here at Bastardo!

Location

It takes about 30 minutes to reach us from Barajas Airport. Get on line 8 to Nuevos Ministerios, then change for metro line 10 to Puerta del Sur. Exit at Tribunal and we're a 3-minute walk way. Ready to hit the shops? Grab your sunglasses and wander along shopping street Fuencarral. You'll be at Gran Via (known as Madrid's Broadway) in around 10 minutes. LGBT-friendly Chueca is a 4-minute stroll if you want colourful cafés and funky bars. The hostel, though, is in a quiet area – so you get the best of both worlds!

Rooms and Dorms

At Bastardo, we like to think differently – our rooms are named after pioneers who lived by their own rules: Frida Kahlo, Patti Smith, Divine. Choose a double room with a private bathroom (some doubles also have a terrace) or mixed dorms with an en-suite shower and toilet. All rooms come with free linen and most have free towels – otherwise you can hire one from us. Keep your space clear by storing your backpack in a handy locker. If you're travelling solo, we've got female-only dorms, too.

Extras and activities

We understand you're probably eager to crack open a cold cerveza after your journey to us – luckily we have express check-in (and check-out!) and no curfew. Take a free city map and find your way to the bars in Puerta del Sol. In the heat of midday, you can also take a break here at the hostel with refreshing air con, free tea and coffee and included Wi-Fi.

Amazing hostel to stay at for so many reasons. The atmosphere was really great and checking in and out was very quick and easy thanks to the help of the friendly staff. The room was very clean and had comfortable and the shower was great! Super close to public transport and nice shops. Also the food facilities and restaurant attached were awesome along with the bar and chill out area. Will definitely come back in the future when I visit Madrid again.

Fantastic hostel in central Madrid with neat, modern rooms, friendly staff and delicious food and drink options. Really loved the on-site restaurant and rooftop bar. Surrounded by many Plazas and shops and the subway is right around the corner.

Loved it!! Super chic and new. Not what someone expects when staying in a hostel.

My stay at Bastardo was pretty rad! The staff was knowledgable and friendly, the bunks (I was in a 6 bed bunk and a 4 bed bunk) were pretty spacious and felt solid, and it's location was super convenient. 10/10 would do again.

Nice hostel! The interior design is great: it's fashionable but also minimises noises or light bothering the other people in your room. Our room was super clean and there was plenty of toilet paper and hand-soap. The location is the best bit - right next to shops, cool bars, a museum and the metro. I agree with the previous comment that the top bunk seemed a bit precarious without any barrier. Also the shower didn't drain properly but that is pretty standard everywhere. Would recommend!

    Fabulous

Overall this is a solid stay. Great location between 2 Metro stations (different lines) in gorgeous, clean and super fun Chueca! Grocery store near by. Honestly one of the most beautiful buildings I’ve stayed in... even if I wasn’t quite trendy enough for the rooftop bar. If you’re looking for a true “hostel” vibe, this isn’t it... but you can’t fault this place for the safety, cleanliness and general experience.

    Fabulous

Funky interiors and good layout but no cross ventilation and windows cannot be opened in the rooms. Top bunks have no safety rail. There is no hand soap for the dorm bathrooms. This needs to be fixed ASAP as it’s unsanitary. Underbed lockers will fit a backpack but any more than one luggage item means the space around bunks becomes crowded with baggage left unsecured. Fabulous location close to everything. Not a party hostel.

Great location. Shower and toilet inside the room. Comfy beds and AC. No room for big bags. No hostel vibe. There’s a bar and many people arrive there. Also there’s a restaurant. If you get there with a group of friends- it’s great! But for a solo traveler - no.

Very clean and modern. However the vibe here is weird, there’s not really any socialisation. The bar and restaurant on the ground floor are mostly frequented by locals and not somewhere you can meet other travelers. The room layouts also make it hard to meet people in the room as the bunks are segregated into their own side of the room and no one really goes to the area that doesn’t include their bed. This makes the hostel feel really lonely for solo travellers. Nice are and easy to get around

Wouldn’t say this is a hostel as such, the rooms were amazing and the bed was comfy and felt like you had a lot of privacy. This place has a big hotel vibe ,very modern and the rooftop shuts way to early and only serves baileys? could have so much more potential, this place would be good if you were going with a bunch of mates on a trip away together but if your solo backpacking and trying too meet friends steer very very clear.
