Belka hostel (Lonely Planet Recommended!) is located in the village of Listvyanka, near Lake Baikal. Built from wood, a well-insulated and energy-efficient material, the place is carefully embedded into the environment.

The main house has four guest rooms with shared facilities: three twins and one dorm for four people. There are two toilets and one shower. Our fully-equipped kitchen is for common use. Each twin room has LCD TV and multimedia players; there is also a common library for all of our guests.

We also have a wonderful Russian banya (sauna) to soothe and relax weary travellers. It is 400R per person per hour, 700R for 2, 1000R for 3 and 1200R for 4 at a time.

Very, very laid back and cozy log cabin-type hostel. Beautiful buildings and scenery. Facilities are very clean and effective. (laundry, shower, kitchen etc) No breakfast but there was free oatmeal, pasta and rice in the kitchen to make yourself. Not too much of a “backpacker” atmosphere, but a local family who was staying there insisted I have lunch and spend the afternoon together :) Ivan from staff was also very helpful and accommodating, thank you!

Not many people in the hostel when I visited. Weird vibe but nice log cabin feel with great nature around. Short walk to Lake Baikal.

We had a very peaceful 2 night stay at Belka hostel in a twin room log cabin. Warm and cosy. Good kitchen facilities, helpful staff. Showers are hot but not very powerful. No wifi but this fits with the laid back, 'off-grid' feel of the place. Great banya! Overall would recommend.

The stay in Belka Hostel was a special experience, even just for one night as we did. The staff is nice and helpful, facilities are simplistic yet comfortable to use. Recommending for those who enjoy natural surrounding instead of cold hard hotel room.

The hostel organised pick up and drop off to Irkutsk for us which was super helpful, and Jack (owner) kindly gave us tips on how to get the most out of our stay by suggesting walking routes and restaurants. The hostel is located up a secluded lane around 10 mins walk from the lake, and the rooms are comfortable and rustic. The showers could have been slightly cleaner but other than that was the perfect place for our stay at Lake Baikal. Thank you very much!

Great hostel. Manager wasn't that enthusiastic but we enjoyed our stay and the banya! One small thing- they should change the bins in the toilets more than once a day. Because you must put toilet paper in the bins rather than down the toilet, the bin did start to smell early on. Would recommend anyone to stay here.

This is a really lovely, peaceful hostel. It is quite a walk from the bus stop, which is hard in the winter when it’s extremely cold but would be ok in the summer. Disappointed that the sauna wasn’t working while we were there and the shower was more of a drip than an actual shower. But it’s a very nice place.

Very nice cabin in the woods, it's a bit overpriced and it doesn't have a while lot f facilities and the staff were only half interested in helping, but it wasn't terrible and if I am back in listvyanka I will stay here again.
