Overview

Discover the beauty of the Basque country from the adults-only Bilbao Metropolitan Hostel in the heart of the city. Check in and rest up in an armchair in our air-conditioned communal lounge while you plan your stay with our free city maps. We know you’re going to want to upload snaps of Bilbao’s iconic architecture from the off, so Wi-Fi's free throughout.

Location

You’ll find us right in the centre of Bilbao, just 100 metres from Zabalburu train station – that’s a 3-minute walk. Arriving at Abando station? You can reach us on foot in 10 minutes. From the airport, we’re an easy 20-minute taxi ride or you can hop on the Termibus to Plaza Moyúa – from there you can reach us in 12 minutes. Your tour of Bilbao’s architecture starts at the Guggenheim Museum, a 23-minute stroll away, before you get that shot on the Zubizuri Bridge. Keep the culture coming with a trip to the Museum of Fine Arts, before you stop to shop (and snack) in Casco Viejo.

Rooms and Dorms

Rest up for a day of art and architecture on your super comfy viscoelastic mattress – we like to make you feel at home, which is why linen is free too. Preferred to pack a couple more T-shirts than a towel? You can rent one at the front desk. All of our female-only and mixed dorms have lockers for your backpacks, plus bunks are fitted with reading lights for after-hours research.

Extras and activities

When you've worked up an appetite, cook a quick dinner or snack in our communal kitchen. We have microwaves and cutlery and self-catering means more euros for churros! We have a 24-hour reception so you can see Bilbao by night (and the early hours of the morning) too. If you've been travelling for weeks, months or years, use our on-site laundry facilities and freshen up before you continue your adventure.

One of the best hostels I've been in and the staff were honestly some of the friendliest people I've ever met. Really nice rooms, amazing en suite bathrooms, really clean, very secure. Go to hostel in Bilbao.

The only problem for me was that there weren't any reading lights by the beds.

The 6 bed dorm was plain but functional. The common space, after a few people filled it, was comfortable. The staff were the highlight of my stay: They were friendly and knowledgable.

I really liked in the pin entry. Curious what their process for changing it is unless they issue multiple codes for a room. A short walk to the old town, great for transport links. I'd have liked a decent knife for cutting fruit. As per the pictures there is no real privacy in the room plus and you can tilt the beds if you launch up the ladder. Simple checkout, just leave. Lockers are decent. Great value, did the job and aside the staff being disengaged at times no real complaints.

Great location, not that far from the train station, lots of shops and restaurant around. It was a bit noisy sometimes because it is closed to the main street. Nice area, felt safe. The price was unbeatable. It was cheap and the hostel was in a good condition and clean. FYI: no free towel and padlock and 1€ for luggage storage

The location is really good... right in the out ring of the center of Bilbao! So it’s an easy walk over to the Guggenheim and everything else in the center. The desk staff was super friendly and funny, I appreciated them. The rooms were standard small bunk rooms, but I appreciated that there was actually enough floor space for everyone to keep there suitcase easily accessible. My only real complaint was an annoying old lady/fellow guest there. :D

    Very Good

The Hostel is situated near to the Old Town(10 min), Train Station Abando (10min) and near to the Guggenheim (20min), but the area is rather sketchy and the entrance of the Hostel is scary as it is a dark alley next to weird shops etc. The Hostel itself is for the price you pay really good, they don't have a fully equipped kitchen but for my two nights stay it was completely ok, next to the hostel is a supermarket. Overall if you stay only two nights for the museums it's perfect.

    Very Good

If you're looking for a cheap place to stay overnight, look no further. But if you want a pleasant hostel experience, especially as a young person, look away. The staff barely spoke English and when checking in, me and some others had to wait almost 10-15 minutes while they were both doing something on a laptop and no apologies were made. In the common area nobody spoke to each other, even if it was full of people. Good security with different codes to access the hostel and dorm
