Great location in West Asheville with a short walk to lots of bars, restaurants and music venues. Felt safe and secure the whole time I was there and the staff was friendly and laid back. A great value for anyone looking to explore the city.

Hi all, I am a 54 year old woman who stayed at Bon Paul and Sharkeys Hostile and I was so pleased at how clean the facilities and how comfortable the beds were in the dorms. The staff was warm and friendly and the other patrons were nice and considerate.

Perfect spot for me when I just needed a bed to crash on and a bathroom to get ready in the next morning before heading out again. I was able to take advantage of the early check-in process at 3 PM and leave my stuff in the room while I did my own thing around town. I was up and out too early to interact with many people but there is a ton of common space and a beautiful big front porch with a swing that would be lovely to hang out on.

Very fun, funky, but still felt very private, quiet, safe. Loved the downstairs sitting area, kitchen clean and well kept. Private room needed towel rack, chair. Bathroom upstairs needs new tiling around tub. Back parking lot needs shrubs pruned and surface cleaned for nails and screws, which I found. One in my tire. Maybe not from there. Murals are beautiful, loved going to coffee, great food only 2 doors down! I would definitely go again.

BPS is not located downtown, but in the charming neighbourhood of West Asheville which is a 15 min drive away. There’s plenty of cafes and shops in the area but if you’re heading downtown you can also take the local ART bus for $1 each way. The front/ door and dorms are accessed by a door code and there are lockers inside the rooms. Towels are provided & has a fully equipped kitchen. If you call up in advance to prepay you can check in from 3pm, otherwise it’s 6pm so pay attention to this

Everything was good. It is a close drive to the South Slope and downtown Asheville. My only complaint is that the website needs to say "limited free parking". If there wasn't a spot in the back, you had to find street parking. Street parking is free, but you have to find a spot.

This place heartens back to a 70’s hostel where weary unshowered travelers would be happy to have a cheap place to crash. Hostels have come a long way and competition dictates better security, amenities, and cleanliness. The place has the air of cast off furniture, staff did not appear happy to see you, I did not discover that breakfast was included until days after my stay. The place smells like dirty feet and linen is pretty basic. Heard there was a much nicer spot in town—will stay there next

Weird, unsocial. and unorganized. Check in was unorganized should have someome ready to check high paying tourist in from 2pm ifs and or butts. Especially with all the volunteers. Area is very limited and hostel overall seemed very bias gay and unsocial. Nothing to really do with yourself in the area alone on an average day. Would be nice to see them offer some normal social activities like a group day hike.,Pub crawl etc. A bfast would also be nice considering the high price u pay.
