I really enjoyed my stay here. I ended up having to extend a bunch of times and the staff was really cool and flexible about it. Amazing manager, lots of French but I didn’t mind, I made friends here even though I don’t speak French. The location is well worth it, Ponsonby was probably my favorite area in Auckland. Everyone is respectful in the kitchen but the walls are thin and there were some boisterous girls there. Shower quickly! 6 minute hot showers! Lots of community food/spices.

The facilities old, but okay for short time stay. No washrooms on the second floor so a little inconvenient for night time bathroom trips. Showers require a coin for hot water, and are small. Kitchen inadaquate for the number of guests. Atmosphere is friendly with guests from around the world, mainly Europe. Manager and staff friendly. Not recommended for seniors. Transportation to central areas is good but distant. showers required coin for

The manager was really helpful since we got there, the place it’s ok if you want to just past by auckland 1 or 2 nights, wouldn’t stay longer! Rooms are smelly and messy, no lockers for your backpacks or luggage! If you don’t speak french and your traveling solo better look for a different hostel

Quite a clean place but toilets don't flush properly, and Wi-Fi was very temperamental so did not work most of the time.

    Good

Our dorm unfortunately had a really bad smell. The window opened out onto the front social area which meant it was quite noisy until after midnight. The kitchen was equipped for cooking, but quite basic and in need of a deep clean! We used the laundry facilities (for a charge) and our clothes were mixed up with hostel washing and we lost some socks. There wasn't much atmosphere for English speaking guests as the majority of people who stay here are French. There are better hostels elsewhere.

It is definitely a place for French people. A bit hard to meet people here if you’re not French and there are lots of long term borders. Still a good place for a few nights
