Loved the hostel. Stayed in a 4 person with the people I was traveling with, small room but it worked for us with slight maneuvering. In our bathroom, the hot water didn't work for the first day, it was shooting out dirt/dust until it ran through and then we eventually got hot water after several tries. Having the en suite was great though, especially since I knew everyone I was with. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The bar was fantastic; we stayed for the live music which we loved.

We only stayed for a night during a weekend tour. All I can say is, hands down, Michelle (the staff who welcomed us) has the most pleasant attitude. She was very, very friendly and accommodating.

I stayed here for several nights while travelling about Ireland. I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. A wealth of information. The rooms were moderately sized yet worked and had an en-suite bathroom with nice hot showers (though could use some more cleaning as mold was starting to develop). They had under bunk storage (bring your own lock) and each bunk had a light & plug. Mattresses were a bit hard but still slept well. Location was near train & bus stations.

The entire staff at Bru Bar is friendly, attentive, and treats you like family. Daily room cleaning is a great service and the kitchen was always really well kept and clean. My only suggestion is to not use bar soap in the en-suite bathrooms and instead just put a pump of soap...sharing bar soap feels strange!

The hostel staff was very kind and helpful. We had an incident one night with a roommate and the staff was very accommodating putting us in a private room and made sure to check in with us. However, the hostel is located on top of a bar which was nice for late night drinks and hanging out but the smell of smoke was not pleasant. The location was okay, it is not located in the downtown part of Cork which was fine, but we would walk there every day and night for food and drinks (8-10 minute walk).

Loved that it was attached to a bar, that was great for our single night in Cork. The facilities could have been marginally cleaner, but we know what to expect when we stay in hostels. The location is great and the gal that checked us in was super cool. I'd recommend.

    Very Good

    04 Mar 2020
The Staff were lovely but I was very disappointed with my room. There was a small double bed and a bunk bed over the bed. I asked at reception but there was no room with just a double bed in it. The shower wasn't great either. It was like a shower in a gym where you have to press the button every minute or the water stops. The breakfast wasn't great either just cereal and toast. I was in Cork for a medical appointment.

This hostel wasn't a good choice for me. It is much better for the party type. I got a room in the back of the hostel so fortunately the noise from the bar did not reach the room but, there are no quiet hours and therefore no help when the room next door decided to have a hen party late into the night. There was smoke in the hallways and stairwells and BLACK MOLD in the bathroom. I complained about the mold to the staff and they scrubbed most of it away shortly after but upkeep is minimal here.

They didn't provide us breakfast as agreed. Staff told us it that was due to Covid but others hostels are offering that anyway with safety measures. There wasn't mat at the toilets, making the room get wet after the shower. I don't recommend at all
