Property Description

This lively and modern hostel is located in the downtown residential neighborhood of Hlíðar, the iconic Hallgrímkirkja Church, the super hip restaurants of Hlemmur Mathöll, the glitzy Laugavegur shopping street and all the trappings of the city center are also within a 15 min walk from Bus Hostel.

Conveniently Bus Hostel shares its location with Reykjavik Bus Terminal. That means that all airport transfers from Keflavík International both end and start here, saving you a bunch of time and some money. All transfers to the Blue Lagoon Spa and all the tours from Reykjavík Sightseeing also depart from our location, making Bus Hostel the ideal base camp for all the must do tours and adventures in Iceland.

Finally the SmartBus transportation system stops at the hostel and drives to all the the bus stops in the city 24/7.

The on site Buzz Bar (pun intended) always has 4 local beers on tap, shows the “important” sports events and is a great place to sit down with fellow travelers, meet new people and get local travel advice from our staff. Any travel service offered in Iceland is bookable at the bar and reception.

Lodging is offered in simple mixed and female-only dorms, as well as private rooms. All have free Wi-Fi and lockers; linens is included. All share bathrooms with showers. The hostel has a 24/7 lobby and check in with a communal kitchen and a guest lounge. Bike rentals are available, and parking is free.

Simply put, Bus Hostel is the ideal base camp for exploring Reykjavík and Iceland. View House Rules

The room was clean, nice and cozy, bed was comfortable, each of beds had at least one electric outlet. My only complain is about the kitchen - one of two ovens did not work, kitchen was not clean at all and it is just too small for the entire hostel.

A hostel built into a bus station? Yes, but it works exceptionally well. A great switching station where you can enjoy a few days off and explore Reykjavík without toting 100 lbs of luggage down the street. Most sites are within a 25 minute walk. The most friendly people are here in Iceland !!!

    Fabulous

Great value for money and convenient transfer to airport. Solid facilities with helpful always-available staff. Terrible location. Ridiculously far from the center of town (20+ min walk to edge). No atmosphere and wasn't helped by the fact that there really weren't any events or natural activities for folks to participate in. Limited bar. Fine if you're just passing through for a night. People are very loud and talk in many languages late at night.

This hostel was quite okay, clean toilets and comfortable beds. Not super sociable but this was expected as everyone was in big groups going on tours. Not so clean kitchen. WiFi was good. Good value for money.

    Good

Average. Bed, single room showers, kitchen, WiFi, most of the staff is friendly and accommodating. Not the cleanest (dust bunnies under beds; things stick to your feet-no shoes allowed; stained pillow; and holes in bed linen), staff rolled his eyes when I asked about how hot my room was, the smaller rooms cost more and are actually worse (hot, no fan; worse bedding). A nice man at the front desk fortunately changed us to a bigger but cooler room when I complained our second stay.

Kitchen was disgusting and only one stove top worked. Bed was super squeaky. Even though Bus Hostel had a no shoe policy, the floor was dirty.

The room was fine, a bit small for 4 people. The room and bathrooms were clean. However the kitchen is not great cause it is very small, and dirty. People are not respectful. If they clean after using it, it would work out fine even if it is small. The problem was that people cooked and left everything in the sink. Also there was food such as chips and sauce all over the floor and they didn't bother to clean it. They just don't mind. That disappointed me and I won't come back here.
