Great location, friendly staff, clean dorms + bathrooms. Showers were on the smaller side, but the hot water was great. I'd gladly return! PS - Oreo, the cat, will likely nap on your bed at some point

GET RID OF THE CAT! Amazing hostel. Amazing location. Great price. I really felt at home at the Cambie Hostel. However, the hostel needs to get rid of Oreo the cat! I have a severe cat allergy and wasn't able to use the common area because of my allergies that included cooking in the kitchen and hanging out at the tables. This took away from my experience. Many people have cat allergies. In my opinion, although the cat is cute, it's not hygienic to have an animal at the hostel nor fair.

A good hostel that was better than I expected. The location is perfect and the staff are super friendly and helpful, especially Danielle! Mainly the issues are atmosphere and the really old facilities. Maybe the vibe is better during normal times, but the common area could probably use a renovation and maybe some more attempts to foster an atmosphere. It’s cool you get a discount at the bar, but you have to walk outside and to get to the bar it doesn’t feel that integrated into the hostel.

Stopover stay in Vancouver en route up to Squamish. Good central location. We (couple) took a private room and it was fine. Comfy bed, chill checkin/out. Didn’t go to the pub downstairs but seemed cool. No complaints.

There was no one at the front desk to check people in from 6pm-12am...these seem like prime check in times to me- I had originally wanted to check in at 8pm but we ended up getting there early at one had told me no one would be there to check me in had I stayed with our original check in time of 8pm...someone should have sent an email stating this.

I was here from a Saturday to a Monday. During this time, I don't think the women's washroom and shower were cleaned once, as some hairs that were on a toilet seat on Saturday afternoon were still there on Monday morning. The floor of my private room was very dirty. I realize this is a party hostel and I shouldn't expect 5-star cleanliness, but at over $60 per night for a private room, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect clean floors and no hairs in the washroom/shower area for many days.

Located in the border of the nice part of Vancouver and the not nice part. Car break ins are common so beware of driving there. Staff is helpful but not always present.

Not what we expected at all. Great location in Gastown. Other than that, strict security, keys for everything. Rules sprawled all over the walls. Rooms felt like cells, bare walls. We left early due to certain pests creeping through the walls, only to be told it’s an “old building”. No air, no fan option either. Nothing about our experience was as expected. We checked in at 3pm, we left by midnight. So many other options in the city, don’t have to stay in Gastown. A plus, they refunded.
