We don't like to brag but, here at Casa Angel Hostel we've been named as Lonely Planet Top Choice for 2020! Having fun is what we do best, with events throughout the week ranging from yoga classes and salsa dancing to free walking tours, barbecues, pizza nights and mezcal tasting.
Stop by the bar for a drink (don't miss happy hour every day!) and take it to a sun-bed on our rooftop terrace. In the morning, the free hot breakfast is a must after a late one the night before.

Find us just three blocks (a 5-minute walk) from the world-famous Santo Domingo Church in the heart of Oaxaca's downtown area, a World Heritage City. To explore the town, just grab your shopping bag for the 10-minute walk to the city centre. The food market is also a block away for local produce. Looking for the ultimate Insta story? Head to the 2,500-year-old ruins of Monte Alban (30 minutes away). Flying in from Oaxaca International Airport? The easiest way to reach us is to grab a taxi or a shuttle, it's a 30 minute journey.

Our modern hostel has cool POD beds in the deluxe and superior dorms (mixed or female-only), with a privacy curtain or sliding door for quieter nights. The renovated standard dorms also come with privacy curtains and USB chargers! Want more space? Go for a private room that has either a shared bathroom or en-suite. You'll get a bed with a comfy orthopedic mattress complete with fresh sheets, a reading light and plug, some private rooms also have a balcony or terrace.

Super stay at Casa Ángel 🙂 staff and fellow travellers all so friendly, fun events on most days with different tour options available, perfect balance between party and chill hostel (terrace great for socialising at the bar/dorm great for chilling out and recovering from upset tummy in my case), very clean and wifi great (worth knowing in case you need to video call people without a hitch, which I did), and finally great location close to center of Oaxaca. Our favourite Mexican hostel so far!

Great stay at Casa Angel. It’s a convenient location on a quiet street so noise isn’t and issue yet it’s just a few minute walk to lots of bars, restaurants, attractions, etc. The daily activities are a great way to meet people and learn about the city and culture of Oaxaca. Would definitely stay here again.

Staff was great. The Guelaguetza was televised and on for us to watch which was amazing. They have tour packages available if that's something you're into, as well as bookings for buses if you're traveling onward. Loved the bartenders and social events. When going out at night, it would be good for a hostel worker to lead us out, especially with increased crime and danger (one night I unknowingly walked on dark streets looking for the gath where people were, only to find out they weren't there)

An enjoyable place to stay in Oaxaca. The walking tour they offer is a great way to orientate you when arriving in the city. Loved the roof top terrace for morning yoga and evening salsa class / happy hour. Breakfast each morning is included with choice of vegetarian or sausage omelette, bread, fruit and coffee. Staff on reception are able to help with English spoken. Antonio behind the bar was fun to chat with and made great margaritas.

Generally I’d say the hostel has a target of people quite young, averaged early twenties, which makes it quite noisy at night, because you can hear people coming back late and often drunk lol. The Wi-Fi works really well, and they have a nice rooftop where they also arrange a few activities like Salsa and Yoga classes, depending on the day of the week. The staff is helpful, the breakfast is enough to make you start the day with the right energy. Good location, really close to the auditorium and the city cen

Overall I really liked it, best hostel atmosphere I’ve experienced. I took the 6 bed dorm because of AC and privacy, later on I found out the 3 and 10 bed dorm also has AC (exception is the 4 bed one). I didn’t have good encounter with the first receptionist, whom I don’t know by name- I came to the room and saw I got a top bunk so immediately went downstairs and asked for the lower one. The guy said that all the other people are checking in for longer time period than me so it’s not possible, I asked if h

This is a great place if you are young. The hostel is lively at night and always seems to have something going on. If you are older, it may not be the best place. It’s noisy, and people are quite loud in the halls. The superior bed was nice, but it was hot and I ended up switching to a different hostel that was cheaper. The staff was polite, but not overly engaging or friendly.

    Very Good

Had a great time here, easy to meet people, good breakfast, clean rooms and nice beds. Bathrooms are okay. Nice rooftop with a cheap bar. However, the receptionist who did the night shifts during my stay was completely drunk one night. We were a group of people who went out at night and came back around 2 am. We rang the bell many times, but nobody was at the reception, so we ended up waiting outside for almost 10min. Considering the robberies that took place in that area in recent weeks, this was not safe

It’s a great place to stay if you want to get to know the center. Clean beds in the deluxe mixed dorm. The only thing is, the staff aren’t the most reliable. I’ve asked twice about losing a pair of shorts and jacket. It was odd because I had left those ontop of my bed, which they aren’t supposed to be touching things. the guys in the reception didn’t even bother to check with the cleaning ladies. I had personally went inside the cleaning room to check and found it there.
