Casa Estela is the most homey hostel in Guayaquil. Not only a hostel, but also my home. And its always kept clean. In a very nice, and safe neighbourhood. Its operated by me and my mother, also a very cute little dog. Affordable, convenient, very delicious breakfast. And you are also free to use the kitchen and fridge to cook your own food.

Stayed here for a night coming from Baños before heading to The Galapagos - not really around much and hard to find, but clean and secure, really nice owner with a sweet dog, will drive you to the airport for $3. Also breakfast included!

Decent for a one night stay, especially if you’re going to/from the bus station or airport. It’s pretty isolated without much to do/to see/to eat nearby. We were the only ones staying there so it wasn’t social at all. The host is super chill- he helped us stream the Raptors game on his TV and drove us to the airport for a small fee. There are also two big dogs living here who aren’t that well trained, and probably need an outlet for their energy. The hostel is also VERY 420 friendly.

    Very Good

I stayed here because I needed to be close to the airport. It’s incredibly clean and the owner is friendly and helpful. For my first night I was given my own room even though I paid for a dorm. There is an area downstairs to relax and sit outside but this isn’t a social hostel. It’s more like a B&B. Breakfast is simple and consists of toast, jam, juice and tea or coffee. There are restaurants and shops in walking distance. Only negative- no lockers. Great place and price. (And an adorable dog!)

    Very Good

The host was kind and made us breakfast in the morning. Clean and super chill environment. Maybe too chill because another guy (possibly host's friend or extremely comfortable guest) was getting the super sweet pup high. The place was a bit difficult to identify (no signage). But overall, it was a decent night's stay and enjoyed the company of other guests.

Unfortunately a disaster when I arrived. The hostel was closed and no one there. When I called the owner said he was at least hanlf an hour away. So I had to wait on the street (little shop opposite) with all my luggage. Didn't feel particularly safe, though the neighbourhood is actually ok. The hostel is ptetty clean though and has a nice kitchen. Note that breakfast is not included even though it says so in the description.

If you just need a place to crash between travels (as we did), this “hostel” is an ok stay. You can walk to/from bus station in 20 min, and neighborhood seems safe. also breakfast is 3 slices of bread, jam, juice, and coffee. Also Guayaquil is v hot and the rooms are upstairs no AC. WiFi didn’t reach our room. If you’re looking for any sort of atmosphere this may not be the place for you. It’s more of a guest house. Shane is nice but not Ecuadorian and moved here 7 months ago.

Reception is really not open 24/7 and the ring does not work. Also the phone is not answering. We ordered the stay but we were forced to use another alternative because at the time of our arrival nobody was present. What is more we were not the only one standing in front of hostel.
