Overview

With both rustic charm and modern style, Casa Kiwi Hostel Medellín is a relaxing place to hang out in Colombia's second-largest city. Our huge, shaded roof terrace is at tree-canopy height so you'll feel like you're in the middle of the jungle! We also have a plunge pool for cooling off under the Colombian sun, and our open-air hammock area is great for afternoon siestas. Inside we have a mini theatre with a huge TV, so you can opt for movie night when you're not up for going out.

Location

We're in one of Medellín's classiest neighbourhoods, El Poblado. Around the hostel you'll find plenty of upscale shops, restaurants and bars to discover. Our nearest metro station is Poblado, a 25-minute walk away. From here you can hop on the A train to the city centre. We're also pretty close to José María Córdova International Airport, as it takes about 40 minutes to reach us by taxi.

Rooms and Dorms

You'll get ready-made new friends when you check in to our mixed or female-only dorms. If you need a bit of space, our private double and twin rooms give you that hotel experience – some even have en-suite bathrooms (the rest of our rooms have shared facilities). All of our beds come with free linen and towels, and you'll get a locker for your stuff – just make sure to bring your own padlock.

Extras and activities

Try your first Refajo cocktail at our on-site bar, or have as much free tea and coffee as you want in our fully equipped kitchen. You're welcome to fix your own meals there, too! Or if you want a break from cooking, just pop into our on-site restaurant. Our common spaces are perfect for planning the next day's adventures with a complimentary city map and free Wi-Fi. We've also got laundry facilities so you're feeling fresh when you step out in the morning.

I really enjoyed staying at Casa Kiwi. I just wish they had a microwave, but other than that, everything was good. I loved the entire staff; even the cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful. I'd definitely stay there again.

Great hostel. Was only there for one day. Just needed a place to crash and get some rest. This hostel was very quiet and peaceful. The staff was super friendly. The hostel is located in parque lleras, which is the perfect location when staying in El Poblado. Would recommend.

Great place, safe, with cool hammock spots and a small but nice swimming pool on the roof. Maybe the beds were a bit hard, but apart from that, I would go back again for sure

    Fabulous

The best thing about Casa Kiwi is the location. Right in the middle of all the bars and restaurants of Poblado, mini supermarket across the road and minutes away from the nightlife. The staff were always friendly and helpful and the facilities are great; well equipped, clean kitchen, cinema room, rooftop, pool table and a hammock area. Unfortunately our private room was above the hammock area and the walls were paper thin. We had terrible nights sleep as a result. Avoid these rooms!

    Very Good

Great location and tours you can do through the hostel. I would recommend doing Comuna 13 with JP from Becolumbia and the guatape tour with a coffee tour included. We got given wrong directions a couple of times and the dorms were very hot. No happy hour and quite expensive food and drink. Overall a good stay but very empty when we stayed there

It was nice for a quiet night but was a bit boring for a solo traveler, although good if you want something close to everything yet still have a good nights sleep

Hostel was fine, great location. Restaurant wasn’t open besides breakfast. Rooms were fine but very dated so kinda feel grubby even though they were clean. Durning our stay about 10 police men were in the building and the hostel got shut down at 10pm and we all had to leave. Staff didn’t really explain what was happening but moved us to all different hostels.

At the moment of arrival I got blindsided by the extra 19% that Colombians pay even though I am not a resident in Colombia anymore when I claimed that my friends shouldn't pay for it they just told me that it was because the reservation was made on my name which is unfair for them to pay it too, the wifi didn't work in our room, one day I got bitten by bed bugs and they changed us to a worse room where smelled bad and there were cockroaches in the bathroom, in general the staff were ugly with m

Can’t really rate the property since they cancelled our stay the day before our arrival. They emailed us that the Government had shut the place down for a couple of days. We had to find a new place wich was obviously a lot more expensive given the short notice. The staff called us afterwards to apologize, give us an alternative if we still needed one and was very friendly. Unfortunately they told us they weren’t able to refund our partly paid reservation since payment went via website.
