Property Description

Casas Viejas is the home of travellers and nature lovers in the Sierra Nevada! We are located at the heart of finca La Victoria, one of the biggest and most famous coffee farms in the mountains of northern Colombia, 30min from Minca and 20km from Santa Marta. Keeping with the rustic style of the coffee haciendas of the region, we offer comfortable accommodation and a cozy atmosphere where you can relax, exchange with other travellers and enjoy stunning mountain views.

Treat yourself with our delicious food – a blend of local and international cuisine – and savouring handcrafted local beers from the tap in our Jungle Bar. We also organise various outdoors and cultural activities (horse-riding, hiking, bird-watching, visit to the coffee factory, ...), designed to explore and connect with the luxuriant nature of La Victoria farm. We are also the perfect place to get a traditional indigenous massage or a morning yoga-stretching session in the middle of the jungle. Our hostel lodge is also the ideal place to start your hike to Cerro Kennedy, a summit from where you can see the amazing snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada.

**Important: For getting here from Minca, you can either take a moto-taxi or a jeep (30min ride), or walk all the way up to here for 2 hours. Please plan to arrive as early as possible, the gates of the finca close at 5:30pm and after this hour the way can get longer and more expensive.

Wonderful hostel high up in the hills above Minca. Even the moto-taxi ride to get there is an adventure! One look at the view from the infinity pool - preferably with a local beer brewed just down the hill at Cerveceria Nevada in hand - and you'll feel more relaxed than you'd ever thought possible. Arturo in reception is the most chilled and helpful receptionist you could wish to meet. And the Happy Colibri Coffee Stout might just be the best beer in Colombia. Hostelling perfection.

This hostel was rated #3 in all of South America. It lives up to the hype. Simply the nicest hostel I have ever stayed at. Beautiful facilities. The bathrooms showers have a view to die for. The pool is a social and refreshing experience with similarly amazing views. Food is on the pricy side but worth it. Staff is incredible and at least trilingual. This was the perfect place to rest and relax before I returned home. If you stay here, don't anticipate ever wanting to leave!

This place was a dream! It is situated in a remote area (20 minutes by moto from Minca), high up in the mountains. The views are amazing!! There is great bird watching from the porches all around. The staff is very helpful, especially the kitchen staff who worked with us to provide gluten free and vegetarian meals. Their menu is robust, and dinners were particularly delicious. Coffee is available all day long. There is so much to do-board games, short hikes, swims, snacks, friends!

Casas Viejas is more than an amazing getaway in the mountains, with great amenities, breathtaking views from the pool, and delicious meals cooked by a stellar kitchen staff. You become a part of the family when you stay here. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere they provide naturally brings everyone closer. Family dinner at 7:30 every night, quiz nights at the bar on Mondays, spontaneous dance parties with guests and workers alike - a truly special experience.

Whattaplace. Switched some things around our trip to manage to get to Casas Viejas, and it was really worth it. Far from the party hostel vibe, awesome to completely disconnect. as others mentioned, the food is amazing (wouldn’t say 100% of meals were), the pool is awesome, the vibe is just amazing. Do note that you’d have to get there on the back of a motorbike going through ..bumpy.. roads, so it is quite an adventure to get up there. But it’s really worth it. Make sure you bring some reading

The place is beautiful, with a fantastic view and pool. Super chill vibes, where nature dominates the experience. The property has various levels to it, which was great as it didn't feel confined. The Dorm rooms had clean beds, bug nets and plugs. My only note however is, there is no shared kitchen, so you are at the mercy of their entire menu (tasty). Could be more affordable though it wasn't absurd. If you're trying to penny pinch, the closest small town is a 45 minute walk.

Amazing view and amazing staff, especially Artoro (sorry for miss-spelling) as he helped me when I got sick. Isolation is nice. Shame that there is no kitchen and only 1 option for food each meal.

    Very Good

    10 Mar 2020
This hostel has absolutely beautiful views and top notch facilities (comfy beds, hot showers, infinity pool, lovely everything). However no option to cook your own meals, only to buy expensive meals there. Fancy vibe mainly containing Europeans and North Americans on smaller vacations. Didn’t get to practice any spanish here as everybody spoke English all the time. Easy to meet people but really lacked atmosphere. All in all more like a hotel I would say.
