Hostelworld says

Cats Hostel Madrid Sol has been described by Hostelworld guests as a lively party hostel, with a highly-praised Paella Party on weekends, plus a bar downstairs. Our visitors have recommended that guests 'definitely do the walking tour and tapas tour' to get to know Madrid. The hostel is centrally located, near La Latina, Puerta del Sol and the Prado Museum. We like their Andalucían riad-style courtyard, which many reviewers have called 'totally beautiful'.

Property Description

There’s no better way to visit Madrid than with a stay at Cats Hostel Madrid Sol. We have been creating unforgettable travel experiences for 15 years, which makes us experts! Our guests agree that our central location, comfortable beds, and a vibrant party atmosphere will leave you wanting more!

From our door, you can easily reach on foot the city’s most famous sites, like the beautiful Plaza Mayor, the lively Puerta del Sol or the world-famous Prado museum. And after a long day exploring out, there’s nothing like arriving at our facilities, recently renovated and perfectly prepared a good rest.

We have a wide variety of common areas to relax or socialize with other travelers. You can lie down in our comfortable sofas, watch a movie in the Red Room, or try our own Cats craft beer in our bar... The building will leave you speechless, it was at one time a 17th-century Spanish palace, and still retains its patio style Andalusian.

The rooms are comfortable, functional and prepared for 21st-century travelers, with personal lockers, reading lights and power outlets and USB outlets. You can choose between shared dormitories from 4 to 14 beds or book your own private room!

And what can we say about our activities? If we have to define us in a few words, we would say we are a very social hostel. Our most popular activities are the city walking tour, tapas tour, and of course our famous pub crawl. Every night we visit the best bars in the center, being this the perfect moment to meet other travelers and mix with the locals. But there's even more: depending on the season and the day, we will have karaoke nights, dance lessons and paella cooking show. The hard thing won’t be choosing what to do, but what not to do!

We offer a buffet breakfast for only € 5 and we have towels to rent for € 3. Free Wi-Fi is available in all the hostel and there are also available computers for guest use. On departure day, we have secure luggage storage where bags can be left while you get your last tastes of the city!

Our reception is open 24/7 and we will be happy to help you with any of your requests. We are not just a play to sleep, we are a whole travel experience! View House Rules

Overview

Get a real taste of Spanish history when you stay at Living Cat's Hostel Madrid. Our stunning Andalusian-style courtyard is left behind from the hostel's days as a 17th-century palace, and we'll serve you sangria straight from the fountain! Start your night in our bar then join in our tapas tour to get a flavour of the city as you dive right into its social scene. Our weekend paella party is not to be missed!

Location

We’re centrally located, so you can be checked in and having a beer within 45 minutes of leaving the airport – just jump on the metro to Anton Martin, a 3-minute walk away. Arriving by train? Atocha Station is 15 minutes on foot. Once you’re sorted, make for the public plaza that's a hub of the city, Puerta del Sol, a 5-minute stroll away. Go for a wander through La Latina – Madrid’s oldest neighbourhood, and reachable in 10 minutes – and stop for tapas and shopping in the Sunday flea market. Or, tick off one of your 'musts' and visit Museo Nacional del Prado – 13 minutes from our door.

Rooms and Dorms

Our rooms are newly renovated and we have mixed and female-only dorms with comfortable bunks. We'll give you clean linen, so you can keep that sleeping bag stowed away, and each bunk has a locker. Like to have your own space? Book a single, double or twin room with an en-suite.

Extras and activities

After a morning exploring, cool off in the courtyard or find a spot in our lounge with air con, where you can use the free Wi-Fi to Skype home. If you need some down time, plan your next day with the help of our free city maps, or grab a book from the exchange. When the siesta's over and you're heading out to discover the city's nightlife, dance as long as your legs allow you – our reception's open 24 hours.

You can read about it on my blog https://nikicjov.wixsite.com/website/post/nice-cheap-hostel-in-Madrid Also, I wrote the post before I experienced the 'nightlife' in the hostel. It was very fun! I met People from all over the World, they played beer pong, listened to reggaeton and drank a lot of beers or tinto verano. I recomend this hostel to everyone! The location is the best in the city! 😊

The hostel by itself is fantastic but what really impressed me was how they handled a situation. The ceiling was leaking and my bed was drenched. I went to the reception around 23:00 and they took care of everything and gave me a new room + a couple things to compensate for what happened. Beyond having a great hostel with great facilities, they really do care about their guests.

Met some great people! It’s a very sociable hostel and the golden walking tour was great! No kitchen and don’t bother paying for the pub crawl but still go to the bar and enjoy with everyone! 😆

    Fabulous

I stayed in a 14 bed room and it was very clean, the lockers worked perfectly, and the noise wasn't to bad. The washrooms and showers were clean and the common rooms had a cool vibe. Breakfast was three euros that included toast, yogurt, and cereal- I thought it was enough. The hostel has quite a few events so it is easy to meet people if you are traveling alone that explores the night life of Madrid. The staff were able to answer my questions. Safe neighborhood.

    Very Good

So i had just stayed in At cats in Porto so maybe Madrid has large shoes to fill and I’m comparing them to much. But it wasn’t even close. The top bunks are sooo uncomfortable and creepy unprivate. You had to pay for breakfast which I’m glad i didn’t it didn’t really look worth it. Positives The location was really excellent. And the staff that welcomed me was super nice and friendly the rest didn’t really talk to me. The hostel was Close to everything but other than that it wasn’t special

    Good

We had booked a twin bed private room. The room was quite spacious but very ill-ventilated. To our utter dismay, we found there was neither a ceiling fan nor a pedestal fan. Given how hot Madrid gets in the summer, these should be considered basic necessities. Plus, the toilet and shower were located outside the room. In my opinion, this is quite bizarre. A private room with toilet and shower must ordinarily mean that all facilities are located within the room. Would not recommend.

Cats Hostel Madrid Sol says

Our 17th-century Andalusian/Moorish patio definitely sets us apart from other hostels in Madrid. We're the only hostel in the city with its own nightclub, plus we've got free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and more. We're located in the centre of Old Madrid, just one minute from Madrid's best nightlife, which we highly recommend to all our guests. A five-minute walk from the hostel will bring you to Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. I especially recommend Puerta del Sol if you're looking for the best shopping area.
Our hostel is ideally suited for travellers looking to have a good time and get to know people from all over the world, while at the same time enjoying maximum comfort and competitive prices. If you want to party and meet new people from all over the world, this is the place to be! We've got tons of activities going on, like karaoke, games, casino, Spanish classes, flamenco and salsa classes, pub crawls, tapas tours, walking tours and much more. Marta, Director of Expansion
