Hostelworld says

The stylish Cats Hostel Porto is located just around the corner from Sao Bento metro station and the funicular. It features a large rooftop terrace, a full kitchen and rooms which are all ensuite. We particularly like their bunk beds, with feature privacy curtains, personal fans and underbed lockers. Hostelworld guests have highly recommended this hostel and say they'd stay here again; one guest told us, 'my favourite place was a terrace where we could sit in the evening having a drink and chatting with friends'.

Stayed here for 5 days. Fantastic location next to a metro and the main train station. 5 minute walk max. Lovely clean rooms. All beds have a lock which is opened by your individual room key which is a great touch. Complimentary breakfast which is great first thing in the morning. Really nice bar area for the evenings. Must stay if your visiting Porto! I will definitely be back!

The room was spacious despite having 10 beds in it. I especially loved the locker because it was big and didn’t require your own lock (you just had to scan with your room card). Free breakfast, great location and walking tours pick you up from the hostel. Bad thing might be that one of the toilet cubicles didn’t have a functioning lock when I was there - I informed the receptionist who was quick to inform their maintenance guy. The floorboards were also a bit creaky, but small issue.

Clean hostel. Central location. Offers free walking tours. It was being redecorated when I was there so very strong smell of paint and no access to balcony. Also one of the two nights I stayed there, I was the only person in my room so the atmosphere wasn’t social. Overall a good hostel though.

The hostel was very central to town which was amazing. It also had very big lockers for everyone to store things under your bed which was activated with your card key, this was very handy and convenient. There were very minor issues, it was really annoying that the roof top bar was under construction and we were not aware of this which was a reason we wanted to go to the hostel. As well the bathrooms were amazing but the only issue was that the showers wet the whole floor of the bathroom.

The rooms get really hot, but each bed has an individual fan. I stayed in a 8bed dorm and there was only one toilet, it smelled absolutely horrible in the wc room. Free breakfast was great, cereal, bread and assorted toppings, juice, coffee, and tea. The downstairs stays pretty noisy throughout the night but you can’t hear it in the rooms. Huge lockers with keycard security, and 24/7 front desk. No outside alcohol allowed, but everyone gets a free beer your first night.

Recently stayed at the cats hostel in Porto for 2 nights but 4 days in-between each night. Staff were very helpful and friendly service. Went on the bar crawl on both nights, was fantastic and met loads of new people staying there. 5** Would definitely stop here again.

    Very Good

Cats ticked enough boxes to make my stay worth the money, but I would NOT recommend staying here for 2 reasons. 1. The staff was MISERABLE. The people of Porto were so kind and helpful, but Cats did not reflect that in the slightest. Got distracted multiple times in the middle of me speaking to them, gave me bad/wrong information multiple times, and were generically unhelpful/rude. 2. The atmosphere was okay at best. The space was not conducive of hanging out and meeting new people.

A good hostel - clean and good location. Not a great hostel - wouldn't recommend. Trying to be a party hostel but lacks authentic atmosphere. Trying to be a big hostel but lacks the finishing touches - genuinely good food and friendly staff. Otherwise clean and sufficient.

It was okay. A lot of construction, the bar was shutdown, and the hills and cobblestone were not my favorite by far. The buildings weren't too far apart, but more hills and cobblestone involved. The bathroom was okay. 2 toilets and 2 showers for 10 people, but a bit too warm for me in the room. The floor creaked loud. Decent for 2 nights stay.

My friend and I chose this hostel because of the rooftop bar. But it was closed for renovation!!! They also said they would have free dinner and they did not. They also said linen was included so I assumed that meant towels as well. But it didn’t

Cats Hostel Porto says

I'd say our most unique features are our beds, each of which has orthopaedic mattresses, curtains, an individual fan, a reading light and a power socket. Plus there's ensuite bathrooms in all rooms. Did I mention our three-metre tropical aquarium?
All the main attractions are within walking distance from our hostel. Within two minutes you can get to Se Cathedral, the Douro River, D. Luis Bridge, Sao Bento train and metro stations and the Rede Expresso bus service . I particularly recommend visiting the port wine caves in Ribeira de Gaia. They're about 15 minutes' walk away.
Being the largest hostel in Porto, and having such a wide range of amenities and activities, we would say that this is not a traditional party hostel, although the night spots are only 10 minutes away. The main age group of our guests is between 25 and 35, but we have had had happy guests from ages 12 to 60 - many of our guests had never stayed in a hostel before.
We can accommodate up to 15 people at a time who need disabled facilities. The entire building and all the common areas are accessible to them; we have an elevator and a wheelchair elevator platform. Quishan & Himali, Owners
