Property Description

This is a project that has been driven by the love of its founders. The camping village is an eclectic space where different knowledge and joys are exchanged. With the proposal of this space we seek to create a new form of communication and collective co-creation. This is a place to come to Communion in natural temples that are: the cenotes, the sea, the mangrove, the jungle ... This is a sacred place where life is renewed. Cenote Encantado has lit a flame with the intention to honor Mother Earth together.

The village concept is fundamental for us because it describes our ideal of community, which over the years has inspired and promoted the creative, artistic, cultural, spiritual and ecological exchange between the guests, volunteers and founders. This place gives us the opportunity to re-connect with nature and ourselves so finding peace that emanates from the heart of the jungle.

Cenote Encantado is a place of turquoise dreams, water and peace. A place located almost at the entrance of the Sian Kaan reserve. Cenote Encantado was founded with the intention of creating a space for ecological development in the human-Earth relationship. Our vision pursues to achieve the proper way of using the natural resources as well as protecting the mangrove ecosystem.

What about food and drinking water?

We have a well equipped communal kitchen with coolers, space for food and drinking water.

We offer Temazcal (Sweat Lodge) ceremonies and other unique organised classes for an additional fee.
It's best to buy your food from one of the larger grocery stores in Tulum (such as San Francisco at the corner of the beach road where Tulum's only stoplight functions or at Chedraui) before arriving so you don't have to go back and forth (it's about a 15 minute drive each way). We also have a few small beach stores nearby offering basic necessities. We have some bicycles so you can go to the near store.

Please bring yourself a flashlight and your preferred biodegradable repellents such as tanning lotion, sunblock and mosquito repellent. Don't forget your personal care products!

How to get to Cenote Encantado:

From the Cancun airport take the ADO public bus to Playa del Carmen (current cost is $120 pesos, or about $12 USD), then take another ADO bus to Tulum (aprox $70pesos or $6.00 usd). From the Tulum bus station take a taxi to Cenote Encantado Camping Village along the Tulum beach road near the entrance to Sian Ka'an Bioreserve (approx $150p or $13 USD). You will know you are there when you see the sign on the right side which says Cenote Encantado.

The taxi driver can easily stop at the San Francisco grocery store for a small extra fee. Public transportation is also available but you may not board with luggage and it is only available certain hours each day. Make sure you enter Cenote Encantado, not our neighbors property which is using a similar name. (Cenote El Encanto)

Directions for the taxi driver (in case the driver is not familiar with Cenote Encantado):

Ask the driver to drive along the Tulum beach road towards the entrance to Sian Ka'an Bioreserve (which has an arch over the road). If you get to the arch where the asphalt road turns to dirt, you went 1km too far. We are located 1km before the arch on the right side (not the beach side)... and you will see a well-lit sign saying Cenote Encantado.

What if I rent a car at the Cancun airport?

As you exit the Cancun airport drive south along the Caribbean coast on highway 307 (the only major highway serving the Riviera Maya) to Playa del Carmen. Continue straight on 307 past Playa del Carmen, past Puerto Aventuras, past Akumal and on to Tulum pueblo. It is about an hour and a half to two hour drive, depending on traffic. You will pass the tourist entrance to the Tulum Maya ruins and then come to Tulum's only traffic light, right in front of the San Francisco grocery store.

From here you turn left towards the beach (the sign says Boca Paila) and drive less than two miles where you will come to a “T” in the road. Veer to the right (don't turn left back towards the Tulum Maya ruins) and follow the beach road passing all the hotels, shops and restaurants another 3 miles towards the Sian Ka'an Bioreserve. You will see our well-lit sign, Cenote Encantado 1320, on the right side (not on the beach side) about 1km (half mile) from the entrance of Sian Ka'an Bioreserve. You will know you have gone too far if the road turns from asphalt to dirt as you pass under an arch, which is the entrance to Sian Ka'an.

Yes, we recommend you rent a car if possible because there are so many beautiful sights available nearby. We can help you decide which magical locations you want to explore...

*Note: We are a retreat place perfect for relaxing, meditating, connecting with nature, respect each other. We are not a 'party' or strong alcohol place.

I can not recommend this place more highly! My family had a great time chilling here, met amazing people, and loved being able to go from the beach to the cenote and back again. Once we arrived for the last 4 days of our tip, all other plans fell away and we didn't get in the car again until we had to leave for the airport! Total relaxation! The fruit and vegetable truck came by daily, and the ice cream guy on a bike! Yes, there were mosquitos but it was so worth it!

Galya (the owner of the place) is a beautiful soul; she welcomed me with an open hear to become part of a beautiful community she created. Camp ground is very well kept in a eco friendly fashion; communal kitchen, showers and bathrooms are spotless! There is beautiful cabana that could be used for morning meditation, yoga or just as a place to relax and listen to the birds. Camp ground has an entrance to Cenote, It was such a treat for me to be able to go for a swim every morning.

We had a fantastic time, Galia and the team were so welcoming to us. You can tell that they are putting a lot of energy and love in making it a very special place. We went swimming every morning before breakfast in the cenote, which was simply amazing. We can highly recommend it and hope we will come back one day.

It was fun to sleep in a tent and swim in the cenote but I really did not think it was worth the price. It cost about $50 just for a simple tent, no breakfast included. The man in charge was extremely uptight about money. He wanted to charge my non-guest friend 100 pesos just to come in and LOOK at my tent and 200 pesos to attend a bonfire on the property. Guests have to pay extra to use any kayaks, rafts, or masks on the cenote.
