At CheapSleep Helsinki, we're all about bargain beds and free buffet breakfasts – there's more important stuff to buy, like beer! Make yourself at home on the sofas in our fun, relaxed and social lounge and use our free Wi-Fi, or get down with more nostalgic tech on the vintage arcade machines in our games room. On Friday and Saturday nights you're invited to our common room party to get to know each other over drinks and games (and free French Fries), then join us on a bar crawl to see the city by night.

From Helsinki Airport, take bus 617 for 29 minutes to Hattulavägen, and we're 3 minutes away. The city's train station, Rautatieasema Jarnvags, is about 20 minutes from us on buses 64, 65 or 611. For some of the cheapest restaurants and bars in the city, as well as the best nights out (and even public saunas), head to the effortlessly cool Kallio district – just a 16-minute walk away. From Hattulavägen, take tram 7 for 16 minutes to Hallituskatu to see Kauppatori, the main square, where you'll find Helsinki's famous international market.

Rooms and Dorms

Our hostel has mixed and female-only dorms with air con and bunks with an individual power socket and reading light. You'll also have a locker (big enough for your backpack) that's controlled by your room key. For more personal space, try our private twin, double, triple and family rooms – some have en-suites. Fresh sheets are included, and you can hire towels (and slippers!).

Extras and activities

Feeling hungry? Cook your favourite meal in our kitchen – stop by the grocery store that downstairs first. Or, if you don't want to do the washing up, you can head to our on-site café. Whatever time you arrive (or leave) there'll be someone on our 24-hour reception to help you out. There's also an elevator (a bonus as we have a few floors!) and free luggage storage.

Hostel has a great location, right next tot he tram station. there is even a supermarket next door opened 24hrs. Dorms are coool, very nice design, in a dorm of 10-14 people you feel like its just a room of 4 people. Its clean, staff very nice.

Very nice and chill atmosphere. They have multiple living room / chill areas where we felt immediately at home and it's easy to meet others. Simple but clean and cozy. Would definitely stay again.

I really enjoyed staying at CheapSleep, staff was friendly and the atmosphere was good. Easy to get to from the airport. I stayed longer than most people would (a full week) and while it was sometimes a little loud in the room, never louder than what's to be expected from a hostel.

I stayed at CheapSleep for five nights in a 10 bed female room. The facilities were clean and readily available which was great! There is a tram just outside the building that takes people directly into the city in less than twenty minutes. The only drawbacks for me personally were structural/layout-wise e.g. I found the toilets/showers to be a little cramped and the common lounge/ bar area was directly outside our room, which made for some loud nights!

This is great value for money, not a most fancy place but clean and secure. Staff is friendly. Tram lines goes very close, so it is easy to get here from city center.

This hostel definitely just felt like a place to sleep, not much more. The beds were very separate which was nice for privacy but weird for interacting and the common area was always dead. Definitely went during off season tho so idk in the summer! Plus sides were it was very secure and cheap

Bad first and we'll start there because as soon as I walked into my 12 person room the smell of must hit you right away. Also, I did my laundry there and I had to split my laundry load into both dryers and it still took my clothes 3 hours to dry. Bathrooms could be cleaner too. As for the good, the breakfast was better than average from free breakfasts I've had at other hostels, the social scene is fairly good and the best part was the way the rooms are set up I did not feel cramped.

This is a big hostel, and when it’s so big i think most people are overwhelmed and therefore together can create a very awkward atmosphere with most single travellers sitting in the common-room alone, awaiting conversation. The free buffet breakfast in the morning was very good, however it should vary from day to day, ham and cheese sandwiches 3 mornings in a row was a bit much. Easy to get there, great signage outside and it’s so useful to have a huge supermarket on the ground floor!

Wouldn’t stay longer than 1 night. Kitchens not big enough for the amount of people. Bunk beds were rickety. Had multiple issues with my access card. Staff not very helpful. Far from city centre. Not worth the money
