At CheapSleep Helsinki, we're all about bargain beds and free buffet breakfasts – there's more important stuff to buy, like beer! Make yourself at home on the sofas in our fun, relaxed and social lounge and use our free Wi-Fi, or get down with more nostalgic tech on the vintage arcade machines in our games room. On Friday and Saturday nights you're invited to our common room party to get to know each other over drinks and games (and free French Fries), then join us on a bar crawl to see the city by night.

From Helsinki Airport, take bus 617 for 29 minutes to Hattulavägen, and we're 3 minutes away. The city's train station, Rautatieasema Jarnvags, is about 20 minutes from us on buses 64, 65 or 611. For some of the cheapest restaurants and bars in the city, as well as the best nights out (and even public saunas), head to the effortlessly cool Kallio district – just a 16-minute walk away. From Hattulavägen, take tram 7 for 16 minutes to Hallituskatu to see Kauppatori, the main square, where you'll find Helsinki's famous international market.

Rooms and Dorms

Our hostel has mixed and female-only dorms with air con and bunks with an individual power socket and reading light. You'll also have a locker (big enough for your backpack) that's controlled by your room key. For more personal space, try our private twin, double, triple and family rooms – some have en-suites. Fresh sheets are included, and you can hire towels (and slippers!).

Extras and activities

Feeling hungry? Cook your favourite meal in our kitchen – stop by the grocery store that downstairs first. Or, if you don't want to do the washing up, you can head to our on-site café. Whatever time you arrive (or leave) there'll be someone on our 24-hour reception to help you out. There's also an elevator (a bonus as we have a few floors!) and free luggage storage.

Excelent place for people, who are just looking for a cheap place where to sleep. It was quiet and everyone will get a bed and locked closed. There is a supermarket next to building aswell. Perfect place for backpackers.

the location is commutable but difficult at midnight. they should have push buttons or automatic doors for handicap. main thing for me was that the dorm beds are in such a small cubicle that you do not have place to keep anything. I'm on a wheelchair so it was so so tight for me with accommodating the chair in that small area. the bed was so low that my head would bump every time I wanted to sit... all I could do is lie down all day.. there should be enough Gap in the two bunk beds..

Location a bit out of centre (fine with a travel pass) & 24h supermarket downstairs. Excellent swipecard security. Great wifi & cool music, but not much socialising even though there is a bar, but there are parties Fri & Sat. Staff weren’t the most helpful; more a hotel vibe since split on level 2 & 4 of building. Good privacy in 16b dorm due to room layout, with electric socket & light for each comfy but squeaky bed. Not completely private showers. Breakfast just ok: porridge, bread, jam, etc.

    Very Good

    11 Jun 2019
Okay. It was full of seniors and families with young children. I seemed to have booked on what was "Helsinki Day." I didn't like the layout of the hostel. The toilets and showers were in the common room so if you shower at 9pm or later, you have to go past everyone partying to shower or use the toilet. Breakfast was bread, ham, and cheese pretty much. Also, they like to clean around 7-7:30 in case you get up early to shower or get ready.

i accepted that it was far from downtown helsinki and would need a long walk or a tramcar ride. the main problem, and it was not touted to have a desktop computer, was the computer was not functioning right at all, depsite it being a shiny apple. the Staff cannot fix that because they lost the possword
