At CheapSleep Helsinki, we're all about bargain beds and free buffet breakfasts – there's more important stuff to buy, like beer! Make yourself at home on the sofas in our fun, relaxed and social lounge and use our free Wi-Fi, or get down with more nostalgic tech on the vintage arcade machines in our games room. On Friday and Saturday nights you're invited to our common room party to get to know each other over drinks and games (and free French Fries), then join us on a bar crawl to see the city by night.

From Helsinki Airport, take bus 617 for 29 minutes to Hattulavägen, and we're 3 minutes away. The city's train station, Rautatieasema Jarnvags, is about 20 minutes from us on buses 64, 65 or 611. For some of the cheapest restaurants and bars in the city, as well as the best nights out (and even public saunas), head to the effortlessly cool Kallio district – just a 16-minute walk away. From Hattulavägen, take tram 7 for 16 minutes to Hallituskatu to see Kauppatori, the main square, where you'll find Helsinki's famous international market.

Rooms and Dorms

Our hostel has mixed and female-only dorms with air con and bunks with an individual power socket and reading light. You'll also have a locker (big enough for your backpack) that's controlled by your room key. For more personal space, try our private twin, double, triple and family rooms – some have en-suites. Fresh sheets are included, and you can hire towels (and slippers!).

Extras and activities

Feeling hungry? Cook your favourite meal in our kitchen – stop by the grocery store that downstairs first. Or, if you don't want to do the washing up, you can head to our on-site café. Whatever time you arrive (or leave) there'll be someone on our 24-hour reception to help you out. There's also an elevator (a bonus as we have a few floors!) and free luggage storage.

It's just what you would expect a hostel to be. For Finnish prices it is good value for money, taking into consideration that it includes breakfast as well. A bit far from the center, though.

The Hostel is a short ride from the city center, But it’s totally worth it! Great Views from the hostel, Spacious kitchen, common areas and outdoor areas! The only problem that it was hot in the rooms, Other than that it’s a great place to stay In! Recommend

This hostel has everything. Clear signage everywhere makes all the facilities and activities easy to navigate. Such a relief especially after spending time in so many other hostels which weren't as clear or clean!

Wasn't so sure about this place when I arrived; it seemed pretty antisocial and the location wasn't anywhere near to the centre. However, the staff really pulled it up, they went partying with us, created a really lovely social atmosphere and I ended up making great friends. My only complaint is that you've got to cross the common area to use the bathroom which is pretty intimidating in your pyjamas when everyone is drinking. And the location was pretty meh, but cheap bars so not too bad!

Staff were trying really hard to create a better atmosphere with organised activities. I was only there a very short time but it appeared to be a lot of families or solo travellers on phones. I really liked the way the 18 bed dorm was set out, it felt like a more private 2-bed dorms. Location was fantastic for what I needed (walking distance to a concert hall). A short transit trip to most major attractions in the centre of town.

Very overpriced for what you get. Rooms are incredibly packed leaving no space for bags or to move around. You have to walk to the other end for the bathroom. Hardly any seating for breakfast for the amount of people staying. Needs hand towels or dryers in the bathrooms

It's a hostel, what can one expect. The staff was supportive, everyone else wasn't. People were least bothered to keep silence and keep things clean. Yet somehow everything was managed.
