My boyfriend and I loved this magical place so much. It was exactly what we were looking for during our time in Tonsai and we loved the people we met through Chillout and in Tonsai that we decided to come back to stay here again in our month in Thailand. There were monkeys playing around the trees of the hostel, the staff were amazing and friendly, and the environment was chill, hence the name. I was fine with the simplicity of the room, but others might not be. This place felt like home.

This place isn’t for everyone, but I personally loved it. It’s a little gritty and you don’t get the fluffy stuff that most people want. The environment is stimulating and exciting.

Chill Out is a really cool, laid-back hostel off Tonsai Beach - accessible from Railay via a short rocky climb. It's extremely basic, but I had a 3 bed dorm to myself. There were mosquito nets above the beds and some ants on the floor, if that puts you off...but the power being off during the day didn't affect me as I was out. The fire show in the evening was pretty cool though!

If you love climb and don't care about comfort and cleanliness that much it's alright. Some friends had rats and cockroaches in their room. No AC, just a fan. They turn of electricity during the day. I would call the rooms rustical. But the mood was really nice and we loved to hang out at the bar in the evening. I think our room didn't get cleaned up the whole time we stayed there. Stuff is nice and helpful. Beds are hard.

    Very Good

I really loved the vibe and location of this place! Although it should be made clear that it cannot be accessed other then by foot/boat. I would’ve loved to stay longer but unfortunately the bed was rock hard and the room was way too hot to get a good night sleep. Staff was awesome! Perfect place to unplug and enjoy nature.

Atmosphere was fantastic with incredibly welcoming staff and a real community feel. But the bungalows were terribly run down, holes in screens, grimy bathroom (brown stains running down the walls under the shower head and around the floor drains), (half broken) ceiling fan coated in years worth of dirt, dirty floors, walls, stained sheets... With a few minor repairs, a coat of paint and a bucket of Lysol this place would be the bomb. Most social and welcoming hostel I’ve seen... just needs TLC.

The reviews are pretty spot on. A very hippie grunge vibe. hot as hell in March with no AC and a fan that only turns on part of the night. Had a huge cockroach on my back in the middle of the night cuz the mosquito net doesn’t fit all the way around the bed. But everyone seemed very chill and friendly. Reception was very accommodating. Free TP. Overall pretty overpriced. Also more like 20-25 minute walk to Railay with a pretty intense jungle section and a steep walk up a road from the beach
