Great place to stay in Beijing within an original Hutong neighborhood. We stayed in a private room which had a comfortable bed and a good shower! It is within a 3 min walk from the subway, which you can easily use to explore the entire city! Would stay again.

Lovely Hostel, very close to a train station, with very cute rooms. There were 3 of us and we booked the family room. It was lovely. You get the same room as a double private room, which is with a giant mattress that easily fits 3 people without touching, and a big bathroom with a waterfall shower. Air Conditioning in the room worked great, and overall, the hostel was very cute and clean. Worth it!

I am very happy with my decision to stay at Chinese Box Courtyard Hostel. I met some really fun people even though it is a small hostel - maybe the small size helps it feel more personal. Also really enjoyed how the staff went out of their way to make me comfortable. Free water is good. Dorm rooms are a little tight, but they're workable.

Thank you to Echo and all the girls on staff. They were able up help me get my guide paid through WeChat. They were friendly and very helpful. The atmosphere was great - and the rooms quaint. They had everything you needed. A LOT of help in English. The taxi may not want to come down the street so beware if you have a lot of luggage. I could not have asked for a better stay in Beijing. Even my Chinese national friends were interested in this place. This was the perfect stay!

Let’s start with the good and end with the bad. So the things I loved about this hostel was how clean, secure, and how nice the bathrooms looked and the bedrooms. Another thing I loved was the location which is in the old side of town. Now the things I didn’t really like was how the staff didn’t really communicate or talk with travelers. In addition there wasn’t really much of a community unless travelers were in your room with you. I would give this hostel a 9.3 / 10

The location was down a very long lane. 5 minutes walk off the Main Street. Very nice quiet location. The courtyard reminded me of a French location. Staff were very helpful and friendly and booked our Great Wall Tour. Lunch included was awesome. Changed our towels when needed. The homemade Kong Chicken was delicious. Helped out with language interpretation. Overall it was a very quiet and pleasant stay for 8 days.

A solid hostel if you are looking to stay in a quiet area of Beijing with easy access to the metro system. Security is good with card access to the main door and an actual key into the room with staff generally at reception/in the courtyard all day. 2 western toilets and decent showers with no queue to use them. My only complaint would be the constant presence of the owners/employees friends and dogs hanging around all day. Hostel is small so difficult to meet lots of people.

Nice clean place with friendly staff. Not the most interesting neighborhood, not a lot going on but some restaurants and near to a metro. Facilities were fine but no in room bathroom for the dorms. Good stay but too expensive given location and amenities.

Chinese Box Courtyard Hostel says

I think we're in the perfect location. Guests can visit the Forbidden City, Beihai Park, Houhai Bar Street, and White Pagoda Temple within half an hour's walk. I recommend visiting some interesting places preferred by locals, such as Tea Street and Zhong Guan Cun, also known as Beijing's 'Silicon Valley'.
In my opinion, one of our most unique features is our social dinners. Every week we organize BBQs on Mondays, family dinners on Wednesdays and dumpling parties on Fridays. All guests like learning how to make the traditional Chinese dumpling. Each afternoon, we always do tea ceremony for guests and introduce some local Chinese culture. Leoson, Owner
