A really great hostel! The location is a bit out of the way from the main centre of Hanoi, which is great if you want some peace and quiet, but seeing as there's so much investment in the city I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes another popular tourist and business location over the next few years. Had my own room which was a unique layout with the bed up on a level above a little chillout space which was a really great idea. The bed was really comfy. Definitely recommend!

Nice place to stay outside of the old quarter if you want to get away from the tourist full parts of Sapa. Nice views of the lake and city. Very good security and helpful and friendly staff. Can take a while to get to different spots around Hanoi, so we would recommend hiring a scooter which you can park at Chip's house

Absolutely amazing! I stayed here for 9 nights, I started in the private room- honestly the best space I've ever stayed in, it's like an AirBnb but crazy cheap! It was booked after 4 nights so I moved to a dorm which was still lovely. Such a sweet family who helped us make traditional cakes for Tet (Chinese New Year) on the rooftop. Own kitchen with a supermarket opposite, free water refills/tea/coffee. A quieter area to the old quarter but that's what I wanted. Honestly can't reccomend enough!

I LOVED staying at Chips House. I am so glad it was my first hostel stay in Hanoi. The hostel is quiet, tranquil and very clean. The rooftop terrace is a huge bonus and I loved all of the plants everywhere. On the Friday I left, Loan and her family cooked a traditional meal for us all to share and we helped make it too. I felt very welcomed here and would highly recommend anyone staying!

The hostel is actually A section in a high-rise. Trying to find this place without getting instructions would be quite difficult. there is a tiny sign hidden that’s almost impossible to see from the street view. At night there are no shops nearby which accepts credit card. The staff were fantastic and the facility is immaculate. This would be something I would find on Airbnb and not hostel world.

Very clean dorms, bed had a curtain, power outlet, hooks for your clothes, a shelf and so on. The matress was quite hard but seems regular for Vietnamese standards.

Personally wasn’t exactly the hostel vibe I was seeking, but on the other hand it was quite and clean so all up to your preferences, didn’t see the hosts often(could be due to the new year) but when I met they they were nice people just as any Vietnamese people.

    Very Good

    04 Jan 2020
Chips House was really clean, comfy and decorated modern, the roof terrace was nice to chill and good to walk around West Lake which is nearby. However , I had booked a private en suite room but when I arrived there was no en suite and I had to share a bathroom (which was ok as was clean) but not what was advertised. If you are a solo traveller I wouldn’t recommend staying here because it was quite hard to meet anyone else and also a taxi ride into the Old Quarter where main attractions are.
