I stayed in double room myself as I was working early mornings. Room was great and very comfy. Kitchen a bit unclean at times and not the best pots/pans but still okay. Toilets and showers quite old but worked well. Lots of bus stops nearby so good transport links, also woolworths close by for shopping. Overall, had a nice stay while at Civic Guesthouse.

Good hostel around a 15 minute walk to the Greyhound stop at the ferry terminal. Room was clean and the atmosphere amongst the guests was great in the sense that it was easy to meet and talk to people. No free breakfast provided - rather tea, coffee and sugar. Kitchen is small but well equipped. Would recommend.

    Very Good

The rooms were nice, clean and spacious. Shuttle bus into town and ferry port is great. All the female staff members were fantastic but I did find the American guy quite patronising as he was often telling us what to do. Kitchen is big and clean and so were the bathrooms. No WiFi at all in the rooms or communal areas was a bit of an issue as was the lights off at 10pm rule. There is only WiFi in the lobby so if you want to use the WiFi past 10pm you literally have to sit there in the dark.

    Very Good

Door to our room was always unlocked but there’s lockers. Staff and guests were pretty friendly, no events on to get you into the city. Overall not a bad place for the cost

Rooms were ok and it was good to have a fridge in the private rooms. Staff were helpful and showed us around. The kitchen totally let it down though, it was absolutely disgusting. Dirty dishes everywhere and the surfaces were horrible. Also there was just one bathroom per gender per floor for all of the private rooms which just wasnt enough. We were constantly waiting for the toilet and showers. Location is good but don't bring a car here as parking is paid on week days 9-5pm

Not for me. I thought it was very average. The room had a fridge in it which made the room smell weird. The room was quite messy as I think people were longer term guests there. There was no noise policy, and my room was right over the common space where people drank till all hours of the night shouting. It was not a great experience for me.

Honestly would not recommend this place unless you’re staying in a private room. The 6 bed dorm was so small it should be illegal! Also most of the people there seemed to be living there and they never even closed the doors behind them, let alone locking them, which just didn’t feel right. The shower was full of mildew and the bathroom stunk like 100 wet dogs. I was booked here for 3 nights and ended up leaving after 1 to go to Magnetic Island because I just didn’t want to stay there any longer.
