Hostelworld says

Cocomama was voted the best in the Netherlands at the 2011 Hoscars and it's not hard to see why-guests have said this boutique hostel is 'the opposite to the big corporate hostels that lack character', with clean, newly furnished rooms 'done up to the small detail'. Hostelworld reviewers tell us the staff 'love their city [and] will give you all the info you need on where to go', making this hostel feel 'like a home away from home'. We particularly like the resident cat and the large back garden.

Property Description

Cocomama offers the best of both worlds in a super central location in Amsterdam. The luxury and comfort of a hotel and the atmosphere (and budget) of a hostel.

The rooms are all Holland themed and range from private doubles to 6-bed dorms (and everything in between). You might share a bathroom in some of the dorms, but those luxurious mattresses and feather duvets are everywhere.

Even more importantly, at MAMA, you're not on your own. Travel stories are shared, as is the dinner table. It’s a place where you’ll make friends and hang out with other international trotters alike in the private garden or common room, or perhaps cook dinner in the fully-equipped kitchen (perfect to keep costs down). And if that doesn’t keep you busy enough, the staff organise tonnes of activities including movie nights, drink nights, games nights and family dinners!

Please read our T&Cs below before booking, so there are no surprises! View House Rules

Definitely the smallest hostel I’ve stayed at— not necessarily a party hostel but they do pub crawls and other events so you can definitely find a party here. Little bit more expensive then other hostels in the area but the comfort of the rooms make it worth it. The location is great because everything around you is less expensive then other parts of Amsterdam so you can save some money on food, drinks, and weed. Super friendly staff! Recommend staying here

If only words could describe the experience! Amazing staff, vibe, and culture. Highly suggested to those looking to decompress outside of the limelight of Amsterdam.

Great time at the hostel. The shared room had a bathroom cleaned daily and also had very prompt laundry service. I would definitely stay again.

Loved Cocomama! The staff were so friendly and provided great suggestions off the beaten path—the map they provide is incredible for this as well. Free breakfast was awesome. The dorm was quite nice, and uh, THAT DUVET THO. Felt like I was sleeping at a 5 star hotel (albeit in a twin-sized bunk bed). We rented bikes for our stay and it was quick and easy to get around from the great location. Atmosphere was very chill, not a party hostel. Thanks for a great stay Cocomama & staff :)

Other than nearly being knocked out by the locker under the bunk, it was great. Very clean, friendly staff, good privacy curtain with a comfy bed and huge window. Super fresh vibes. Free luggage storage and easy access to metro. Lots of stairs though. Also a gorgeous cat, take your allergy meds.

Nice staff. Skateboards were awesome! Big complaint was the noise level that echos through the entire hostel.

I shared a room with another person and paid 70 euros to sleep on the top bunk. The man on the bottom had all the charging units, access to the window, the dresser and didnt have to drag his suitcase up a slipper pipe ladder. Its not fair that I paid the same as him. It was like his room and i was the strange visitor that only had a bed to herself. The room is not fairly distributed at all I was very disappointed in the price. I have traveled to 46 countries and only ever paid max 40€ in Berlin

If you get top bunker bed than you will have tough time.I did not got information on what to do , where to go nearby.. as this place is 3-4 kms from city centre.Toilet ventilation was not good .. exhaust itself was stinking too much.. Also experience was worsened because of roomies who were stoned all time and did all sort of nonsense.I had issue with my key card because of which I was not able to open main door... staff was able to resolve it soon.Stairs give this hostel a different Experience

Cocomama says

What puts us ahead of the rest is our many little extras, like cheap bike rental, private hostel boat tours, our cuddly hostel cat Joop and the free pasta, rice, oil, spices and coffee/tea in the kitchen! For fun our guests join in on one of our many activities, like Tight Ass Tuesday (beer and pasta for â'¬3), movie night, the booze cruise, Nintento NES battles and more. Our hostel is run and owned by young, energetic ladies with outstanding local knowledge of Amsterdam. We especially recommend that people go biking or boating through Amsterdam - it gives you a total different and local view of the city.
We're also close to Albert Cuyp Market (two minutes' walk), the Heineken Brewery (five minutes' walk), Museum Square (5-10 minutes' walk) and the bars, restaurants and clubs of Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein (10 minutes' walk). Anika, Owner/Manager
