We love this Hostel!

Hostelworld says

Cocomama was voted the best in the Netherlands at the 2011 Hoscars and it's not hard to see why-guests have said this boutique hostel is 'the opposite to the big corporate hostels that lack character', with clean, newly furnished rooms 'done up to the small detail'. Hostelworld reviewers tell us the staff 'love their city [and] will give you all the info you need on where to go', making this hostel feel 'like a home away from home'. We particularly like the resident cat and the large back garden.

Property Description

Cocomama offers the best of both worlds in a super central location in Amsterdam. The luxury and comfort of a hotel and the atmosphere (and budget) of a hostel.

The rooms are all Holland themed and range from private doubles to 6-bed dorms (and everything in between). You might share a bathroom in some of the dorms, but those luxurious mattresses and feather duvets are everywhere.

Even more importantly, at MAMA, you're not on your own. Travel stories are shared, as is the dinner table. It’s a place where you’ll make friends and hang out with other international trotters alike in the private garden or common room, or perhaps cook dinner in the fully-equipped kitchen (perfect to keep costs down). And if that doesn’t keep you busy enough, the staff organise tonnes of activities including movie nights, drink nights, games nights and family dinners!

Please read our T&Cs below before booking, so there are no surprises! View House Rules

Had a great time at Cocomama - enjoyed the ambiance of the common room and especially enjoyed the comfort of the beds. The bathroom was well stocked with shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. It was a delight to take a shower in our private double farm room. Sunny the cat was so sweet and added to Coco Mama’s charm and humor. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Will recommend!

The place was clean. Breakfast was included, a great plus. A really cosy common area. Staff were really helpful and friendly. It is a bit further from Dam Square but, its quiet and relaxed after a long night out. I would recommend highly.

the hostel is super located and it is easy to find it. the stuff was welcoming me nice and showed me the hostel. even if i couldn't check in because i was to early, i was able to take a shower. woho! the common area has a shared flat feeling and the breakfest is delicous. So i made good experience with cocomama and their stuff. it is a bit pricey but that is Amsterdam and if you see what you're getting, it is fair.

It was my first time staying in a hostel as a solo traveller and I absolutely loved it! It was such a welcoming place, the staff were amazing and I was able to meet people so easily. The location of the hostel is really great as it’s not far to get to the city centre and major tourist attractions like Heineken tour are within reasonable walking distance. The only small thing I could pick out is that the bathroom is a bit tight for space, but that is a very minor thing, in general it was great!

Cosy hostel in the De Dijp district, Cocomama is well situated at the crossroads between multiple trams stop which makes getting around with a GVB pass a breeze. Electrical plug & personal light bedside are there. Grocery store within walking distance with a small but well-stocked kitchen. Although a little pricey it’s a good nights sleep and one of my top picks in all of Amsterdam.

Great hostel, with a very welcoming and warm atmosphere. I felt very safe. Plenty of possibilities for public transport right in front of the door. The room was very clean and the beds comfy. The hostel is one of the more expensive ones around, but definitely worth it. The staff is amazingly friendly, easy going and very helpfulI loved the breakfast and hanging out at the basement. Definitely coming back one day!

Had very noisy building work going on. Which I appreciate is needed sometimes. However as I booked a couple of week prior they should of had a notice on the website informing guests of this as I would have chosen to book somewhere else. Cleanliness was good on first impressions. But it clear that they would just given things a quick wipe rather than actually clean. As you arrive you are greeted by a sweet on the pillow. Which is a nice touch except mine has clearly been nibbled by a mouse.

Cocomama says

What puts us ahead of the rest is our many little extras, like cheap bike rental, private hostel boat tours, our cuddly hostel cat Joop and the free pasta, rice, oil, spices and coffee/tea in the kitchen! For fun our guests join in on one of our many activities, like Tight Ass Tuesday (beer and pasta for â'¬3), movie night, the booze cruise, Nintento NES battles and more. Our hostel is run and owned by young, energetic ladies with outstanding local knowledge of Amsterdam. We especially recommend that people go biking or boating through Amsterdam - it gives you a total different and local view of the city.
We're also close to Albert Cuyp Market (two minutes' walk), the Heineken Brewery (five minutes' walk), Museum Square (5-10 minutes' walk) and the bars, restaurants and clubs of Leidseplein and Rembrandtplein (10 minutes' walk). Anika, Owner/Manager
