Overview

We like to think of our guests as family here at Coloria Hostel. Get cosy in the common room next to the roaring fire, grab a glass of Malbec from the on-site bar or head to the kitchen or BBQ area to prepare food family-style. In the morning, let us do the cooking – we’ll have a traditional Argentinian breakfast waiting for you free of charge. We'll also introduce you to our culture with Spanish lessons and tango classes on our outdoor terrace, or you can take some 'me' time with a dip in our swimming pool.

Location

We're in the centre of Salta, only 200m from the impressive architecture and relaxed cafés of Plaza 9 de Julio. Adventurous types can get inspired by the city’s mountainous surroundings – Andean peaks and red rock valleys make this region super exciting. This is a student town, so you also get vibrant nightlife. The party starts around 2am on Calle Balcarce, about a 20-minute walk from the hostel. From Martín Miguel de Güemes International Airport, the best way to reach us is by taxi for 25 minutes.

Rooms and Dorms

Choose from dorm rooms festively painted in bright colours. We also have double rooms with en-suites for those who like their privacy. Either way, you’ll get your own locker and luggage storage. Lights out is whenever you decide, as your space comes with a reading lamp. Free linen will be ready when you arrive, and you can hire towels if you need to.

Extras and activities

We can help you get discounted tickets on lots of excursions around Salta, so you can try out mountain trekking, see the salt flats or ride the famous Train to the Clouds. Or if you're the DIY type, we can point you towards a trustworthy car hire. After a day exploring the desert, get comfortable in our lounge for some cable TV or a DVD. We’ve also got free Wi-Fi so you can check in with everyone back home.

Only spent the night there but it was a quick enjoyable stay. I tried booking more nights but they were booked up. Descent breakfast, good location and good atmosphere.

The hostel is comfortable and clean, kitchen is well equipped, breakfast is nice and a good location. The only downside is that you have to pay extra to stay there after 6pm (if you check out and store your bag). The staff are friendly and will book tours for you but don’t offer much in the way of advice. The tour we booked was A LOT of driving and we were picked up last and stuck in the back the whole time - so ask questions before booking! You can walk to the tour office to get a better seat.

This hostel has an excellent breakfast, I really liked that. It is at walking distance from the city center and the bus station. It was not too sociable when I was there, but that might depend on the people. The rooms were decent with huge lockers. Toilets and showers are combined in the same room, which I always find a bit inconvenient for hostels. Other than that I would recommend staying here.

Pros: Good location Good social spaces Clean and tidy Pool Comfy beds & pillows Cons: Insisted I pay cash (and they charge 15% we they do let you pay by credit) Staff speak little English VERY hot and stuffy room such that I couldn’t sleep. My room only had an internal window so no airflow and only a pedestal fan in the room which doesn’t reach the top bunk. Other rooms don’t sound as bad from talking to others

Do not book tours with the hostel. They sent us on the wrong tour and we were not able to see the 14 colored mountain (the only reason we came to Salta). Our whole group was very annoyed so we confronted the staff. They never apologized and wouldn’t refund our money. A day wasted. Other than that, hostel is very basic. Clean enough with a nice communal area.
