Property Description

Common Grounds Pai is a Backpacker Hostel & Hangout in Pai City Center

A social backpacker hostel in the best location in town, Common Grounds Pai is the place to be to meet & bond with fellow travelers. During the day, we often have awesome things to do together like day trips around Pai to see the waterfalls and canyon or a chill day at the coolest pool in town (Fluid Swimming Pool). At night, we pregame at the hostel together until 9 pm and then hit the best bars and nightly events in town, from open mic nights to pub quizzes to dance parties. Since we close early, those that want a good night's sleep can get one comfortably. We have small dorms (6 beds each) with air-con, lockers, comfy beds, and individual power outlets. We can't wait to host you soon!

We aren't a party hostel so if you are looking for an absolutely mad time, you might want to look elsewhere, but each night we do pregame and socialize together in the communal area and then hit the best nightly events in town at the local bars, from live music to beer pong tournaments. We want the people who need a good night's sleep to be able to get one so please be quiet when coming home later after a great night out!

-Chill & Social Communal Area
-Pool Table
-Pub Crawls & Day Tours (sometimes)

Zeen was absolutely amazing from the moment I walked in the door. She was warm and welcoming and even gave me a much needed cup of cold Roselle juice which was perfect for the hot day. The rooms and beds are comfortable, the atmosphere is top notch, the location can't be beat and the air-con is perfect. Wish I stayed longer than one day and can't wait to come back!

I absolutely loved my stay. It felt like home away from home. Air is the best - she even took me to a ‘secret’ bar and was soo friendly. Zeen on reception was soo sweet. I went on the pub crawl on the first night and had the best time with Lucas and Joe - they are amazing. The common area has a greatchilled vibe and I met soo many new friends. The hostel is in a great location. 2 secs to walking street and bus terminal so very convenient logistically. I was sad to leave. Thanks 🙏

This place just sucks you in so you never want to leave!! Rooms & shower/toilet are to a great standard for the price. Great common area to chill out in and the bar crawl is a MUST.

Do yourself a favour and stay at this hostel! The staff are helpful, the place is clean, location couldn’t be better, the lockers are big enough for a day rucksack (maybe like 15-20l) and the atmosphere is fab! The pub crawl isn’t crazy like you’d imagine from a mad monkey, but social and chilled while still getting drunk & fun - they’re bars not clubs. It’s a great way to meet people and I met some of the best people here that I have in my whole 3 month trip! Already came back to the hostel!

Common Grounds is the place to be in Pai. The lobby is fantastic, with a pool table and hammocks and pillows to chill out on. Just lie down on a hammock in the morning, chillax and you will meet some amazing people from all over to do things with. At 9pm everyone heads out for the bar crawl, and after that it’s pretty quiet. I had a top bunk and the AC wasn’t that great from there, and I had a standard master lock that didn’t fit, but I didn’t care because the atmosphere here is amazing!!

Really lovely atmosphere. Everybody was super friendly and welcoming, especially the volunteers and staff. You get a mixture of all ages but the majority of the people staying were younger. They do like to party but the hostel is super chilled and everybody was super respectful.

Great location, literally on walking street. There is a pub crawl every night which is good for socialising. My only issue is that the common area shuts at 9 at night so if you don’t want to go out, you have to stay in your dorm.

    Very Good

This is a nice hostel in a great location, steps from the walking street. Very chill, lovely common area vibe during the day/evening (with hammocks and dogs!), but it closes after 9, which is a bit of a downer if you want a quiet night in. Free coffee and drinking water, which is a bonus. It’s relatively pricey, though, and I found some staff to be a bit cold sometimes. Social atmosphere, but not party-party.

    Very Good

At first, our twin private room was an amazing space and clean. However, we realized the AC didn’t work and it was downhill from there. Two different front desk women gave us attitude, were rude and made us feel like we were a hassle. A worker who checked the AC confirmed it wasn’t working. The AC stayed weak throughout our stay. Front desk wasn’t helpful for Resto, spa or tour suggestions. Based on our experience, we would have avoided this hostel and stayed at another nearby one with a pool
