We LOVED staying here! This might be the nicest hostel I have ever visited, it almost felt like a hotel. The rooms were beautiful, they offered a delicious breakfast for $3.50 and they even made our beds. The train wasn’t running but they highly recommended hiking to Devil’s Nose and the trail they recommended did not disappoint. The staff was very kind and helpful. We would highly recommend both Community Hostel and a visit to the small but beautiful town of Alausí.

The train station is closed, and not much going on at the moment in Alausi. Still: THIS PLACE IS FREAKING AWESOME! Super clean, tidy, nice layout. They have local craft beers! Brand new beds and cozy blankets. Water pressure like out of fire hose. Actual real HOT HOT water! RAINFOREST shower head! My hosts Luis and Alex couldn’t have been nicer in what can’t be a great time for them. Helped me with a hike to Devil’s Nose, and let me check out late. Thanks so much!

Perfect place to stay if you are doing the Devil’s Nose train. Right down the street from the train station. The hostel is only a couple years old and everything is still very clean and new. Staff are friendly and breakfast is great! Only downside was WiFi didn’t work at all in my room.

What a great hostel! This was the most modern one I stayed at in my month in Ecuador. Inside my 8 bed dorm room, there were TWO private bathrooms, something I don't think I've seen before. It is beautiful and immaculately clean, and the staff make your bed every day. There is free coffee and tea available 24 hours, free drinking water, and breakfast and dinner are offered at an additional cost. The showers get as hot as you like, and great location close to the train station. Highly recommended!

The staff are lovely and helpful, patiently answering all my questions. They keep the place immaculate. For somewhere that is three years old there are no visible signs of wear and tear. Everything still looks brand new. The dorm bunk was sturdy and comfortable with an individual power socket. I was provided with a towel and there was soap available. The mixed dorm had en-suite bathrooms, one for women and another for men. Thank you to Alex and Marco for your hard work and extra effort!

Totally fine to stay for a night. I had unwelcoming experiences with the staff when I checked in and out, but the bed was comfy,
