Property Description

If looking for an off-the-beaten path, serene, quiet, Costa Rican natural experience, we have what you are looking for. Situated on the Osa Peninsula, in a rainforest that National Geographic refers to as "one of the most biologically intense places on the planet", and where rainforest kisses the Pacific, we welcome you to Corcovado Jungle Hostel. Our Hostel is located just off a walking trail midway between the now bustling Drake Bay and the clear, cool waters of the Rio Claro.
Here, come relax and enjoy a break from the noise, dust, and hustle of other coastal beach towns.

At Corcovado Jungle Hostel we offer:
ïâ'¬Kitchen area
ïâ'¬Tents for 2 people max
ïâ'¬Dorms with single beds
ïâ'¬Bathroom area
ïâ'¬Free Wi-fi
ïâ'¬Internal trails on the property
ïâ'¬Viewing platform

If planning one's own meals, we advise purchasing groceries prior to boarding the taxi boats in Sierpe. Drake has available food however it can be quite expensive.
If you wish for an easy route regarding meals, we have a restaurant offering healthy, delicious fare, 3 meals per day.

---How to get to The Jungle Hostel:
Take a bus/collective/taxi or other to Palmar Norte. Once you have arrived in Palmar Norte take a local bus to the small river town of Sierpe, this bus ride should take about a half an hour.
The bus from Palmar Norte to Sierpe departs every hour approximately from 5 am to 11:30 am and then again from 2:30 pm to 4 pm. You can also take a taxi or a collective (it departs from the Tracopa terminal).
Ask for a taxi boat to Playa Caletas or Corcovado Adventures Tent Camp Beach in the Restaurant called 'Donde Jorge'.
The boat departs at 11:30 am and 4 pm, we recommend being there 15 min in advance, the ride takes about an hour and half and takes you through mangrove estuaries and across drake bay before reaching Corcovado Adventures. (Important You cannot buy tickets in advance).

---Adventure Tours Available:
Fortunately, here at Corcovado Jungle Hostel one leaves behind the human impact of noise, of dust, however the jungle if far form quiet. Animals do not know Park boundaries and here at the hostel one has everyday opportunities to view Scarlet Macaws, Toucans, Hummingbirds, Morphos, coatimundi, Capuchin, Howler, and Spider monkey, Sloths, and numerous other land creatures. Being situated next to the Ocean, one can see Whales, dolphins, and numerous fish species.
At the Jungle Hostel we offer a selection of tours. The tours are managed by our mother hotel so you might end up sharing the tour with other people. Some of the things we offer are organized tours with local guide: Caño Island with snorkeling, Corcovado national park and our new night tour. Also, there are tours like Horseback riding, Kayaking, canopy, and fishing. You can book the tours at the reception. There is also the option of a walk to Rio Claro, is a 2-hour walk round trip (no guide needed).
*How to get to the hotel? *
If you come by car, it must be in 4x4 since the street has difficulties for a simple car, the car reaches a private property where they keep it for 2500 colones at night and from there we walk until we reach the hotel approximately 500 meters, we wait for you in the parking lot to help you with your luggage and accompany you to the hotel.
The address you should look for in waze or Google maps is "Curime School" of the plans when you get there you will see a sign on the corner that says Adventures Corcovado and an arrow that points the way to the right, follow that route to the end of the road and there we will be waiting for you.
The estimated time of the transfer from Palmar Norte is approximately 3 hours in the direction of Puerto Jiménez.

It is truly a lost paradise in the rainforest. We loved our stay there, we really recommend it for adventurers. Two issues to know: 1. No warm water (but quite common in cr;)) 2. It costs 40 dollars per person to get there and back with the boat which seemed a lot compared to what locals pay for the exact same boatride… But overall the stay was amazing and the stuff is super friendly!

An incredible stay at jungle hostel! You cant expect luxury but expect to feel immersed in the jungle. I saw just as many animals from my accommodation as during the sirena park tour. On my last evening monkeys were playing on the roof and a tapir walked right past the kitchen (fence separating us). The family that run the place are so lovely, I enjoyed some great meals and felt welcome into their home. They even took us for beers in the town on friday! Gracias 😍

The first night/day was a bit rough. We were the only guests and it seemed like we were in the way as they were cleaning and prepping for a big group the following week - to be fair, it was the off-season; however, after the first night and day, things changed dramatically! They booked a tour for us and prepared an excellent lunch when we returned. Dinner and breakfast were fantastic as well! The beach and facilities were very nice and, all-in-all, it was the BEST Hostel I have ever stayed in!

Amazing staff and beautiful location. There were parrots 🦜 right by the hostel as well as monkeys. It wasn't the cleanest place and the bathrooms were always kind of wet but overall it was a great value. The staff were so kind and helpful with everything ❤ would def stay there again

Big éloge to Nok for his friendliness and willingness to show us wild life in the hostel area. Also to Brian who fighted to get us spots to Corcovado national park. Hostel was easy to get to and we are very satisfied with our stay in the tents!

The Jungle Hostel is a great choice if you want to explore the Drake Bay/ Corcovado area! We booked the tent for 2 nights which was really nice! A real camping in the jungle experience (: Brian (and the other staff) were super helpfull & friendly. The dinner at night was nice, but not quite worth 12 dollars p.p. However it was nice because the nearest supermarket is a 45 min walk. Keep in mind you get to the hostel by an hour boatride, which you also need to pay. Would recommend and go again!

Great hostel outside of drake bay. Get a tent with a mattress, best value. Just a 2 minute walk to the beach, more beaches available on the bay trail. Groceries can be done in drake bay, 45 minutes walk in the other direction (great "hike"). Common area is nice, but not too big. Socializing was easy. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only thing that was negative: kitchen could definitely be better equipped (2nd stove, properly working fridge, more utensils in general) + the howler monkeys ;)

The location of this hostel is great, it’s in the middle of the jungle, and the beach is right by the hostel. There is a lot of birds and monkeys. However they can also be in your room, same for crabs and lézards. The rooms are really open so it’s super humid. Otherwise, everything else is great, the staff were friendly and it was easy to booked tour. I also recommend buying food in advance since Drake Bay is approximately 45 minutes walk.

    Very Good

    29 Apr 2022
When we arrived at the hostel we were the only ones checked in and we quickly realised the hostel hadn’t been cleaned. We asked to be upgraded to a hotel bungalow, and the management was very accommodating and gave us a great deal. They also allowed us to still use the hostel kitchen. We also know they cleaned everything up later, so we understood it was just an oversight. The staff and especially Brian were very welcoming and happy to chat and help. Tours were amazing.
