Best spot to stay if you're visiting the park and aren't in need of a fancy room with a mountain view. It's only a 5minute walk from the gates. Basic facilities, but no problems at all. Beautiful open air restaurant on site with views of the surrounding valley. Breakfast was included, and you can have lunch or dinner at the restaurant or head up the hill and grab food across the road from the park gates.

    Very Good

We booked two nights in this guesthouse. Unfortunately we cut our trip short by one night. This was due to the karaoke bar opposite to the hotel - the music was extremely loud and it went on until 1.30am. considering that there is nothing much to do in the area and we had gone to bed at 9pm, this meant hours of being kept awake and getting frustrated. Otherwise the staff were lovely and extremely helpful. The room was basic but had a comfy bed and hot shower.

    Very Good

Location is great right by the park and fairly cheap. Staff were helpful with tips for onward transport and a really good free breakfast (bread, eggs, baked beans and a sausage). The bathroom was always flooded, there were no hooks to hang clothes and towel on in the bathroom, only one power plug for the whole room and the window wouldn’t shut at night making the room very cold (and you only get a very thin blanket). For this reason I wouldn’t stay here again.

Great location for KK national park, beds were very hard and thin, so much so they even offer another mattress to rent because they're so uncomfy!! Bedsheets had holes in, cockroaches in the bathroom, no fan, it didn't feel at all clean/comfortable. Good shower and amazing views from the restaurant, breakfast was ok, sausage egg and bread or two eggs if you're vegetarian. Younger staff members were very friendly and helpful.

It is what we expected when reading the other reviews so we weren't surprised. Location is wonderful of course. Breakfast was good. Sleeping with the tiny blanket in the cold was tough- we brought a jacket and sweaters and sound up both sleeping on one bunk to stay warm. You can buy more tiny blankets or a second mattress for a fee if you want to, we did not. The bathroom was pretty gross because it was flooded all the time and not very clean.

A disappointing stay at a hostel in a glorious location. It’s understandable that amenities and facilities aren’t readily available here as you’re half way up a mountain but it was disappointing that staff were rude, unwelcoming and bathrooms were dirty and full of stagnant water as they don’t drain properly - easily solved by sweeping the water into the plughole. Breakfast was poor too as bread couldn’t be toasted and coffee was continually served cold. The location is outstanding however.

The bathroom was flooded with a lot of water, enough to submerge a flip flop so you had to wear shoes. The breakfast was quite poor and the staff didn’t seem happy about you sitting in the reception unless you were buying something. The bedroom was cold and the walls were thin. It’s very close to Kinabalu Park though so it has that going for it.
