Staying at Crocodyllus was amazing. The first time I stayed was with a group of college friends and the second time was with my family who visited me in Australia from the states. Both groups of people (including myself) have spoken very highly of their stays. The staff is wonderful and welcoming, and the overall accommodation is lovely. I will definitely be sure to revisit this place if I return to Australia any time soon!

Off alle the hostels I stayed, this is probably one of the nicest. Really cool accomodation in big tents, in the middle of the forest. Who has the chance to wake up, facing a cassowary? The manager is really knowledgable about the rainforst, the night walk is a must do.

It’s just camping. Staff are nice but not very accommodating. You have to check in and out during certain hours. There’s one event and, if you’re new, you have a small time window to sign up for it. Other than that, it’s straight up camping. Fine if that’s your thing, but there’s nothing special about this place. Just average cabins, showers and not much atmosphere.

Things to Note

Here is a taste of what is available in the area:Jungle Night Walks, Rainforest Boardwalks ,Natural Swimming Holes ,Jungle Ziplining ,Beach Horseriding ,1/2 Day Reef Trips (snorkelling only),Jungle Bugs and Butterflies Museum ,Ice Cream Factories - two of them YUM ,Exotic Fruit Tasting ,Crocodile and Mangrove Cruises ,Daintree Discovery Centre ,Board Games Galore plus Pool Table and Darts ,Swimming Pool (onsite) and lots of jungle ambience.

Travel north from Cairns along the fabulous coastal road towards Port Douglas. Don't turn off to Port Douglas, just continue on to Mossman, a small sugar cane farming town famous for Mossman Gorge (must do for a swim) and also a great stop for groceries if you need them. Continue heading towards Cape Tribulation until you reach the Daintree Ferry ($28 per car return - cash only after 4pm) for a great little ride across the Daintree River - see if you can spot a Croc!. Make sure you ask for the Daintree/Cape Tribulation map from the ferry ticket person - it is an
essential guide to the area.

Once over the ferry follow the road up over the Alexander Range and down the other side to Cow Bay. We are approximately 2km on the left down Buchanan Creek Road. Be sure to keep a look out for Cassowaries on the journey and enjoy the ambience on the rainforest drive.
