Lovely hostel in a great location in old Dali town. The dorm room was clean and the beds had a duvet and blanket so it was warm! It had a lovely area to sit with free hot water and tea and even fruit. They also had good bikes to rent for only 10rmb for a half day.

Dali Laoshay hostel is a comfortable, well located place to stay with a chilled vibe and some of the best coffee you’ll find in chinese hostels. It is easily reachable from the train station (one bus and then you’re basically on the doorstep) and perfectly placed in the old town of Dali. We stayed in a dorm room (the cheapest option available) and the beds were still very comfortable and we were warm despite it being freezing outside. Great place to stay and incredible value for money!

Staff was very friendly and helpful with directions and recommendations (but was best in Chinese). Interesting group of Chinese guests around who help out and hang around, which gave the hostel an interesting atmosphere. My only caveat is that some parts of the room, towels could be cleaner.

Nice loubge; good location close to one of old city gates - walking distance from main atraction in the old city and close to the mountains for hikers; you can find people to socialize with pretty easily. Cheap prices for alcohol, drinks and the discebt breakfast. Staff doesn't speak very good English; the rooms and especially the toilets aren't very clean.

Location was good near the ancient city and local market. Rooms were not super clean and beds were oncomfortable. Be aware: my room door (dorm) did not close well. I think my roommate didn’t notice and therefore anyone could get easily in the room. Check this beforehand. Common room was nice, and there was a small fire place for the cold winter months. Breakfast is cheap, but would recommend you to go to restaurants. Bakery No.88 and Birdbar Cafe have amazing breakfasts for a fair price.
