Property Description

Daniels guesthouse. A house with a story.

My little guesthouse is also my home. I moved here a little over a year ago, and desided to turn the house into a home also for travellers who needs a cheep place to stay. If you are looking for an authentic experience, this is the place for you. My house is like any other house in Minka, so when you live here you live like the locals.

My grandfather built this house a long time ago, but he never finished it. The bunkbeds that I rent out are the same bunkbeds that my brothers and I used to sleep in when we visited as kids. When I moved here I restored them as well as the house.

My family moved away to another city because of the situation in Minka at the time, and some locals rented the house at a cheep price for some years.

After living in the states for nine years, I started thinking about this house. I called around asking my family what they wanted to do with it. No one seemed interested in keeping it, so I said I was interested.

The difference between my place and other places to stay in Minka, is that my place is not a hostell. It is a home where we can live together. If you have any questions about Minkas history or this houses history I will be happy to tell you what I know.

Authentic Colombian experience and very close to Minca town (~5 Min walk) Daniel is such a nice guy, it was great to hear about the history of the house and Minca. Would definitely stay again :)

Staying at Daniel's Place was wonderful and exactly the way out of the beaten track of hostel-tourism we needed! Cooking together, inspiring conversations and the possibility to explore minca and its amazing surroundings made returning to his place in the evenings like coming home. Thanks to his perfect english skills he could help also with some translating work during our stay. After almost a week we left with a good feeling of knowing a place to recommend and also having found a new friend

Daniel is an intelligent and friendly guy who converted his humble home in a place to stay in Minca. It is a really small place where you are gonna feel like in a family, these kinds that not happen when you go to a 20+ people accommodation. 3 minutes walking down and you can get a refreshing swim in the river. When I was there we had dinner together, went for a drinks and have many good conversations with Dani and Paula, the volunteer there at that time. GREAT local experience :-)

Daniel's place is a little way off the Main Street in Minca (5 min easy walk). The place is very homely and Daniel makes you feel right at home. It has a bunch of hammocks which is great. Kitchen is good. There is no fridge, but a cooler and you just buy ice. We had A hot shower. and best of all Daniel has great taste in music, so good tunes playing when he's home.

We loved our stay at Daniel's! He is super friendly an was flexible when I got sick. Would definitely recommend staying in Minca, rather than up the hill at a resort-style hostel. It was nice to have the freedom and flexibility of exploring.

If you are looking for one of the cheaper options this is a fine place. He offers you a bed in his basement, that is cool and somehow quite clean. Kitchen isn't too inviting but it's there if you need it. Not to many people seem to stay here, but don't expect new friends, except Daniel who is nice. If you want to be around people, go to the Casa Elementos and get a hammock - similar price.

Daniel is an absolutely lovely guy, really nice to talk to and is very knowledgeable. The hostel itself though is unfinished and pretty disorganised although you do have access to the kitchen. I was also the only guest when I stayed so the whole place felt a bit dead. With some improvements to basic facilities this will be a good place to stay!

I suggest to paint, order and arrange better the dormitory (basement), it's a bit messy. The bed is hard and quite uncomfortable. The owner don't know how to treat guests. Maybe he treats guests he gets along with better. But if you don't get along with the owner, he treats you bad. A very bad experience I have to say.
