    Superb

I arrived late an night and Arturo the owner opened with a smile. Early next morning ignoring that in Medan I had to turn my watch one hour behind, I woke him up. Again he opened with a smile. I asked thousand of questions in different languages and he had an answer for them all. Arturo wishes to work for the Lonely Planet, lets try to make it possible. The place itself is simple and cozy. Breakfast is included and so are the tips for your journey.

Great place. The owner is really nice and helpful. Great rooms, really nice breakfast. Close to big mall and city center. Only squat toilets.

+ In the centre of Medan, next to everything you'll need. Being right next to the food street is great. The guy running it is awesome and speaks good English. I was able to leave my bag there for a few hours after check out whilst I was walking around Medan. Very good, very helpful. Free breakfast of toast and jam which is nice - Atmosphere feels a little quiet, but that might just be normal given it's outside of the usual touristy locations

The place is nice, very simple and rustic, is close to numerous and variable options to eat, the best of it is the staff, the owner gave me an outstanding treatment, he walked me into the mall to show me the money exchange facilities, I had to move to the dorms for one night and he didnt charge me for it, he didnt charge me for my laundry either.

    Very Good

I stayed in this neighbourhood at another hostel, this one was a bit quieter, as it was not on the main street. The hostel is the upper portion of a school for learning English and possibly some other languages, The people are very nice and helpful (I needed to make a series of long distance calls (overseas) and they helped me with that). I would probably stay here again when I come thru Medan.

**Bedbugs** No air con in the room only 2 free standing fans. Not very clean floors and bathroom doesn't look great....squat toilet. Also kitchen area is questionable. I think people live there permanently as well which is slightly odd. Do have transfers to Bukit Lawang and beyond which was very helpful.

Unquestionably the worst accommodation we have stayed in 9 months of travel. Booked a double but was shown to bunk beds in an unbearably hot room, even the floor was radiating heat. It looked like a prison cell and in a long, thin corridor upstairs with no fire exit or windows - we think this would be seriously dangerous in an emergency. Internal walls not ceiling height so all light & sounds in hallway shared. Ants in bed & glass of water in morning. We were very happy to leave after one night.

I arrived 12:50pm and basically there was nobody at reception (which is also language center!). called many times but no answer. people tried to help till the staff arrived. there was also no electricity in the building that time. rooms are dusty and I think never been cleaned. had to cover the whole bed to sleep. it was also HOT. even with fan. there's 1 toilet each floor and also disgusting. it's not a travelers' hostel, it's cheap accommodation for locals especially 2nd floor!
