The best hostel I’ve stayed at in SA, you think you’ve seen it all and then the Dijembe just keeps surprising you. This hostel has a great atmosphere with awesome staff and hilarious hostel animals who will keep you smiling and laughing for the duration of your stay. It offers a good selection of activities and has the best pancake station for breakfast in the morning. Tasty hostel dinners and a cool looking place it isn’t to be missed.

Loved my stay at this place. Such a cozy spot to while away a couple days. Due to it being low season, I was the only person there for much of my stay, but the staff (and animals) were warm and welcoming and made me feel right at home. Easy walking distance into the village, and plenty of activities in the area. Don't worry about planning your next stop; just ask James for advice! Absolutely would stay again.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Dijembe. James was great and helped out with planning some of the activities and they made an amazing dinner every night. The hostel is rather basic and they turn off the generator between 10pm and 7:30am which means no electricity in the rooms. WiFi didn't work most times, but James let us use his hotspot if we needed it. They also have free homemade beer bread, which was absolutely delicious.

When we arrived no one was there, after waiting for 3 hours the guy working there showed up and was really confused, because no one has told him that we were coming. We thought the room was okay, until we saw a rat in it and another one outside infront of the hostel.

Walked into this hostel expecting a chilled, hippy, quirky vibe. Greeted by 3 people at 10am in morning saying "Welcome to the party place!!!". Place was very dirty, self catering kitchen is just a tiny hob, fridges disgusting, the whole place felt grubby. The staff were all over the place, and very disorganised. I went upstairs to see what the dorms looked like and they both smelt so bad that I just picked up my stuff and walked down the road to the nicer, cleaner and friendlier Tsitsikamma bp
