Lovely relaxing place with great open terraces common room set in a lovely tree lined suburb not far from the centre. I would highly recommend Discover Rwanda. Also the profits all go toward the Genocide Memorial

Fantastic base to explore Kigali. Eric and Geoff were fantastic. Incredibly friendly, helpful and informative. They arranged transport to get us to the Genocide Memorial (which the hostel is affiliated to) and also helped with a pick up and pseudo guide (Alfonse and he was brilliant) to the Kimironko market. Our stay was short, but that we would, and want to, return to Rwanda is largely down to the time we spent with the people from YHA. A great place to stay- they are doing some fantastic work

Great place with a very friendly staff. The place is owned by the foundation which runs the Genocide Memorial, so your money is going to a good cause as well. Always a nice mix of locals and visitors to keep you company.

    Very Good

The place is clean if not a little run down. I didn't have a hot shower for the 2 days I was there and no one else seemed to either. There is WiFi but personal lockers. (you can leave important things with the reception safe). While the staff are lovely and friendly, they weren't able to advise on the logistics of getting around. Weren't very helpful in getting money changed or where to get a sim card. Bodas cost 500 into the centre of town so not to bad at all but very far from the memoria.

I really wanted to like this well-known hostel, the oldest in Rwanda, in a great location. I came as a professor with a group of students for a travel class I was teaching, but ultimately pulled us out two days early due to unfriendly staff, disappointing conditions (terrible shower, a used condom in the group bathroom, moldy-smelling rooms, and outlets that didn't work), a really inadequate "breakfast," and the ubiquitous presence of a European freeloader who wouldn't get off the couch.

Good location next to restaurants (papyrus, carwash) and coffe shops (shokola). Nice terrace area Food choices very limited, food not nice and greasy. Service was very slow Rooms open toward the back (laundry, kitchen, staff areas) so very noisy and smells of food Water was not working at all in the room, and in some of the public bathrooms Reception often empty Some services advertised on hostelworld are not provided: ATM, currency exchange, pool, self catering No internet in some rooms

We reserved a double room, but due to construction works the hostel moved us to another room, which had no windows and mold all over. They promised us that after one night we will move to a nicer room, but the day after we found out they gave that room to someone else and we have to stay in the same room. We decided to leave, but the receptionist tried to get us to pay more than we had to. We had to stay at reception for an hour arguing until they agreed that we were right. Not recommended.
