My second stay at Drifter Jack's and I'm sure it wont be my last - I highly recommend to everyone! Just such a comfortable environment. There's lots to see and do in Austin, but when you need to recharge the batteries nothing beats sitting back on the couch watching a movie from their extensive VHS collection. The team are friendly and welcoming. On my last day I had a sore foot (probably from ACL festival) and could barely walk - Drew and Trevor looked out for me, even lending me crutches!

I had a fantastic stay at Drifter Jack's. Robbie, Jasmine, Chris, and Drew made sure that my stay was a blast by keeping me informed about what was going on around the city and letting me know about hostel events. Movie night was one of my favorite ways to unwind at the end of the day. It was clear that Drifter Jack's vibe attracted the right type of people. Almost everyone I met there was welcoming and was willing to talk about their journey-- and also give me space when I wanted it.

Drifter Jack's is one of the cheapest, but not the cheapest hostel in Austin. At the same time, cost is only one consideration, and Drifter Jack's has all sorts of advantages over other Austin hostels. Specifically, its location, its free parking, and the free coffee in the common area, 24 hours a day. There is also a sense of community that you experience at Drifter Jack's the moment that you are greeted at the front desk, a sense of community that is missing from many other hostels.

Due to ACL being held that weekend it was a pretty steep bill, and the showers were annoyingly weak. Other than that the place is just amazing, by far the best in Austin :)

This place was by far one of the best places I have stayed in. I met so many new people who were also solo travelers. A lot of people were there for ACL this year. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. They host this thing called pub crawl every sat, where a group of people staying at the hostel go to 6th street's bars and clubs. Trevor led mine this past week, it was so much fun! Totally recommend this place especially if you are solo travelers and like to meet new people.

Hostel is situated right next to University of Texas so it is a cool spot for young people. Would recommend staying when a football match is on, as atmosphere around town is very cool. Room was decent enough, shared bathroom between two rooms is kinda rough but I guess understandable. Staff suggestions were top notch.

This is a good hostel, it is very basis and reminds me of the hostels of the past. Comfortable mattress, great wifi, free coffee, 24 hour reception. My issue is the price. Other hostels in Austin are similar priced but have much better facilities and free breakfast. The guy who owns this place is killing it i suspect. Rent a run down building, do some artworkon the walls and charge a fortune. This guy is clever.

One bathroom per 12 beds is hard! There's no curtains on the beds, & the rooms stay really dark so it felt impossible getting ready, packing, etc, without bothering others. Not having a key (I was unaware I needed cash for it), staff seemed annoyed when I rang the doorbell to get in. Clean but no toiletries provided. Security felt really minimal like anyone could come in your room & anyone could take luggage left in storage. I felt like all the art was to distract from how shoddy the place is.
