A great place to stay on a budget or road closed, very clean and warm, tidy and neat, highway noise.

Really cute and comfortable little sheds. We stayed there for a night and would recommend if you are looking for an affordable place while traveling through the South Island. Bathroom are outside but it’s fun as part of the experience of staying in a farm in NZ.

Comfy beds, functional kitchen and bathroom, as well as laundry facilities. Lovely owners who didn't mind me arriving late. Great day trips for those with wheels, or a hike up the hill behind the house if you don't. Hitchhiking and/or finding a ride from/to the place wasn't hard, though having your own wheels is beneficial.

    Very Good

Expect a stay on a farm, not a hostel per se. Room was quite cold, and the facilities pretty basic. Potentially overpriced. But the view in the morning more than made up for everything.

We booked a Basic Double Bed there but when we arrived they found that due to a mistake in names, they gave our room to another couple. So after a while, they have suggested to use the Cabin room close to river. The location of Cabin was cozy and beautiful, with a bath tube in the open area, however only for people who arranged for that to use and enjoy it during the day. It didn't have warm tap water, shower or plug in for charging our cellphones. the Cabin got unfavorably cold during night.

The owners didn't let us use the kitchen after checkout and didn't show any humanity when we explained we were exhausted from a track and just wanted to eat something before we leave. They basically kicked us out and we left the place hungry and with no water. Their reception is far from the rooms and there's no cell service, you have to drive there if you need something. At nights it's pitch black outside, if you want to go to the bathroom you have to walk outside in the dark when it's cold.

Our room was freezing even with the extra blankets provided and the heater in the room didn’t seem to make a difference. Reception was so far out of the way, it wasn’t easy to contact the owners. Also, there wasn’t any security on the doors, as you couldn’t lock the door when leaving the room.
